After sucessfully guiding me away, we both stood on a large balcony with many blooming flowers. "What happend to my home then? I'm supposed to be dead, so just kill me! Kill me just like you killed my kin!" I shouted at the beautiful man. His long dimmed out red hair, blew in the air, before he gave me a soft smile. Not the kind of smile you would give someone who was yelling at you. "I'm afraid I'm not permitted to tell you, mortal." the smile disapating on his face. His right eye was white, and his left was a bright red. Much brighter than the color of his hair. "Well if you are going to be useless about that question, tell me why I am here- moreover alive!" My question came out sounding like a demand. "This year, a mortal girl is chosen to be my bride." He explained rather dryly. "Well, im sure you are sorely dissapointed." I remarked. "Oh stop with your pathetic self pity. There is nothing for you to be sorrowful about." He shouted at me for the first time since we met. Didn't take an awful lot of time now did it? Though if somebody asked I would deny it, I was so humiliated I wished the world would swallow me and my tragedy of a life down to hades. Now felt like a time that I should slap him, but I held back. For once, I decided that my silence would be more valuable than my words. "Let us go." He said, talking hold of my hand, and dragging me away. We walked away from the people, and all the way down to a larger and more richly designed than the one I woke up in."Welcome to my chambers," He says, looking at me in confusion. I have had the most fine dresses made for you, waiting for you for the chosen bride. Please, choose one for my celebration tonight." Letum sounded more elegant than he looked. "Alright.." I said, being completely hypnotized by the gorgeous dresses. He left his own room, trusting me enough to do as he say. With his absence, the room was much quieter, however I could still hear the ambiance of the High Court's and other activities. My eye caught sight of a dainty black dress, with red silk laces, tying the corset together.
It seemed to perfectly resemble something a Vampire Lady would wear. I slipped it on, listening to the scrunching of the cloth being folded and brushed out against my body.
My hair was down, the dusky brown color making my eyes look more of a deeper brown.
It had most likely been around an hour since High King Letum had left me to ready myself. Most days I felt disgusted with how I looked, but this carefully crafted dress made me feel like some kind of princess. The princess of the dirt.
The door creaked, and I saw King Letum walk inside of the room. "Let us go now, Amity." He smiled, extending an arm out for me to grab. Happily, I grabbed his arm, and we strode off to a large dining hall.
I never once dared to ask how he knew my name.Though I forgot to ask what the celebration was meant for, I'm sure it wouldn't end in disaster like my previous 'outing'
There was a large table, which I'm sure was at least 50 feet long, with rows of delicates. Nobel men and women of the court all sat, laughing and indulging themselves in the delicious smelling food.
High King Letum sat in the seat at the very end of the table. "Go-" Letum said to me, pointing to the chair, on the other end of the table.
I felt awkward, being in such an exclusive seat. I'm not sure how they do it here in the vampire realm, but back in the human world, the two seats at either ends of a table were only for the Nobel men in the kings Ivy Council.
The King stood from his seat. Immediately all eyes were on him, and every conversation was put to a stop. "Today, we gather to celebrate the bond that me and my bride will forge."His voice was cold, and chilling, exactly how you'd imagine a vampire king.
The whole time he gave this speech, his eyes avoiding my own, which I was indeed quite glad of.
And with that, he sat down, practically giving his approval for the guests to continue on talking. Suddenly, servants came out with more golden trays of food.
I looked at the food being served. There was some sort of bloody meat, with powdered crystals, grounded up to make it seem like a less horrifying meal . Their glasses were filled with blood. I watched them as they drank it, as if it were a fine wine, made my the gods themselves.
I never wanted to hurl my insides up more that I did now.
To my left side, there was a large cup of ale. I figured that if I was going to make it through this bloody meal, I may as well be drunk. I wanted to be so drunk that I couldn't even remember my own name before the dawn. I picked up the ale, and began to chug the bitter liquid. I chugged and chugged, until I had downed 12 whole glasses of it. I had been so worried about drowning my self out with the beer, that I forgot about embarassing myself and King Letum. My vision went in and out of focus, but I could by the people looking at me and snickering, I made a fool out of myself. Before I could humiate myself any further, King Letum rose from his seat, silencing all of the laughter. He came over to my seat, andlifted me up. He carried me away back to his chambers."Mortal, you dare to insult me?" He said before releasing a heavy sigh. I feel asleep in his arms, not worrying about what would happen next, mostly because I couldn't.
But as soon as my eyes shut, I was gone. Far away from High King Letum.
