I woke up in a room adorned with diamonds and sapphires, feeling like I had stepped into dream. High King Letum stood before me, his voice resonating with authority as he began to reveal the truth about my mother.

"She was kept captive by Miles.." he began, sitting beside me.

"He wouldn't let her go. Not alive at least. She found me after she had heard what happened  with you and felt like she had to help after leaving you. It was her one motherly duty that she wouldn't leave unfinished." his voice carried an unexpected tenderness, unlike the cold demeanor I was used to.

"Thank you, High King.. It means a lot that you would take time to tell me."

He rose from his seat with a firm nod.

"I'm truly sorry dar- I mean Amity. I'm afraid I have to go into a royal conference revolving miles. I will see you at dinner." He smiled and curtly walked away.

I stepped into the large dining quarters, the chatter of the other guest tickling my ears. Roast beef, and glasses filled with warm thick blood caught my attention.
I remember last time I saw the blood and how I wanted to vomit just then. Though it was still slightly unsettling, it didn't faze me nearly as much as it did the last time.

I was guided by a servant to the chair just beside High King Letum.  I hadn't spoken with him since our previous conversation, and I spent most of my day exploring the huge palace, and finding comfort in the garden.

My heart raced as I nervously looked at High King Letum across the royal dinner table. His eyes were gleaming with delight as he watched me, and I couldn't help but feel my spirits soar. It was as if we were the only two people in the room, despite the presence of all the other guests.

"Amity, you look absolutely gorgeous," he said, taking in my attire. I blushed and looked away, not quite believing that such a powerful man could be so interested in me.

"Thank you, your highness," I replied, my voice trembling slightly.

He smiled warmly and reached out to take my hand. "You must call me Letum. We're into one another enough that such titles seem so...formal."

I smiled, my anxiety alleviating a bit. We sat in comfortable silence for a few moments before Letum spoke again, his expression more serious.

"We need to find a way to keep Miles from finding out about us," he said, referring to the powerful demon who wanted me for his own. "He has spies everywhere, and it would mean disaster for both of us if he were to discover our relationship, or that you are with me."

I nodded, swallowing nervously. I knew that Letum was a powerful man in his own right and that his high rank could easily be used as a weapon against us both.

"I know a secret place outside the kingdom where we can go and be away from everything for a while," he said thoughtfully. "It's close enough that we can still meet up from time to time, but far enough away that Miles won't be able to track us down."

I smiled, my heart warming. He had thought of everything. I nodded eagerly, and we made plans to meet in secret the following night.

As I left the royal hall the night air cooled my cheeks. No matter what Miles attempted to do, I knew that Letum would always be there to protect me.

As I walked into the room that the Vampire king Letum had given me, I couldn't help but be taken aback by its beauty. The decor was exquisite, with ornate furniture and delicate artwork adorning the walls. It was a sight to behold, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe.
