He set me on the ground bitterly and enraged, stalking off, stiff with anger, into the busy streets of Elzrieus.
I never knew what I did wrong, but quite clearly I messed up direly. What was more scary that his unpredictable behavior, was the fact that I hadn't know him relatively enough to predict his outburst or how to handle them.
Moments prior, we had been walking off to Elzrieus, mere moments away, when I decided to break the silence with a couple innocent and well mannered questions.
It wasn't until the third question that he became engulfed in rage.
"I know is may seem like a particular odd question but... how is it that nobody seems to see you," When I had asked Miles,it was just an absent minded intake, and I still wasn't 100% sure if I was just imaging things, or reading into encounters too closely.
But as soon as I asked him the question, he gave me an angry glance, set me down, and left.
"Wait-!" The words barely managed to glide off my tongue. He was far gone and I didn't know where he was.
I felt a new found anger, aching my bones, and eating me alive from the inside.
I should no doubt find a place to spend the night, and the nights are evidentially chilly.
I felt a tingling sensation build in between my eyes, and before I could wipe them away, warm and salty tears streamed down my face. A few of them traced down to my lower face, bringing about a salty taste to linger in my mouth.
Gently creeping along the heated cobblestone streets, my eye caught sight of a dim lit barn to my far left.
The farther I progressed to the barn, the more the sun left me, alone, and in the dark. Tonight was a dark, and moonless night, with no sparkles to ornament the dark inky black sky.
Lazily I fell flat on top of the warm hay, inducing the donkey and cattle's stares, not being sure if I pose them any threat.
Ultimately the animals join me in rest, no longer paying me any time of day.
I shuffled onto my side and began to doze off.
CREEEEKKK
I immediately shot up from my side, and faced a farm boy, no older than I was.
He had short dusky brown hair, messily scattered around his face. I could see the shock on his face when we made eye contact.
"I'm so sor-" I nervously began to try and explain, but I was only met with a light and airy laugh.
"Don't sweat it. I take it you're new around here?" The boy said, extending out a hand for me to shake.
I thankfully shook his hand, giving him an all knowing gaze.
"Ya know.. this is the exact way I met my true love.." he alluded. I can't help but notice the change in his tone towards the end of his confession.
I couldn't help but giggle at the notion, "Well then? Tell me some more about her."
"I would love to talk about her- I'm Ezekiel, by the way"
"I'm called Amity,"I smiled back at the boy.By the time the words left my mouth, we were seated together on the bails of hay.
"Well," he began, with an endearing tone of voice. "She has long blonde hair, and beautiful brown eyes that I could just get lost in.... She's awfully shy, and well-" Ezekiel paused, clearing his throat.
"This town is- well it's horrid! They ostracized my precious Alice for being of few words. But I find her shyness more adorable than not,"
"She sounds simply lovely," I agreed. "I understand that feeling all too well. Maybe one day people will be less bitter."
