Earlier this morning I was sent out by Miles to get some bread to eat.
"Hello! Can I please get a loaf of bread?" I asked the baker man, as he kneed the dough. He curtly shook his head and placed a warm loaf of bread in the palms of my hands. After paying him, I couldn't help but notice Ezekiel walking along the
a stone path with a striking young woman, hand in hand.I took my bread and walked toward them. "Hello, Ezekiel! And is this the lovely Alice?" I asked as merrily as I could be.
Ezekiel only looked at the woman, and then at me. "Hello, I'm Alice," she spoke quietly, barely even above a whisper. "Indeed! I've heard plenty about you." I could see her features become anxious at the words, assuming I heard whatever gossip the town mutters around. "Oh, but it was all in adoration of you." I clarified, and I could tell it lifted her spirits. She wore a lovely powdery blue dress, with silk gloves on her thin hands. "Good.." And though her voice seemed uninterested, I could see a light smile covering her face. "We are to be married, in a month," Ezekiel interjected, turning my attention to him. "Oh, how splendid! You will make a beautiful bride Alice!" I exclaimed excitedly, taking her hand into my own.
"Why don't we go into town and shop for a wedding gown sometime? Just the two of us?" I suggested. Ezekiel told me that she was sort of a loner, and endured heavy criticism from the other local people. "I-I would love to!" Alice replied, squeezing my hand in assurance. She seemed rather pleased with the idea. "Well then, I'll leave you too alone. I hope to cross paths soon"
I waved to both of them and continued to walk back to the rather homely cottage we were staying in for the time being.
I suppose I was too carried away in my head, wondering about the Summer Solstice, that I harshly bumped into someone. "I am so sorry-!" I turned around to see an older woman with a thick head of golden hair, and grey strands mixed in too. She had strong green eyes, unlike any I'd seen before. She looked at me in awe, and we stood there, eyes locked, for what seemed like years. "I- Your name. What's your name." This should have been a moment-long exchange, so why does she feel entitled to know my name? "My name...Is Amity...?" Though I probably shouldn't have, I obliged and gave her my name.
"Oh my..." Tears began to well up in the corners of the woman's eyes. I watched shocked, as she ran far and fast. Why must my life be filled with strange phenomena? I stepped into the cottage, and Miles's gaze turned to me as soon as my foot hit the brown wood floors. "Anything interesting happens while you were out~?" Miles asked, taking the loaf of bread from my hands. "Actually yes," I began, getting his attention. "I mistakenly bumped into a woman, and then she began to demand my name. Stranger even, once I did she burst into tears and ran off.." Miles's face showed visible signs of dread. "Heh... How odd. Well then, are you attending the Summer solstice?" "Yes! I received a letter that Estrella will be there too!" I am very excited to see her again after so long.
"Ah, fantastic. I hope you know that in Elzrieus, you are expected to wear a mask to conceal your identity." I did not know this. "Oh! Thank you for telling me, Miles. I suppose I should go buy one!" "W-" But before he could finish whatever he was going to say, I slapped the door and rushed out of the house, and into the town square. There were many shops, but one stood out to me. I strode up to the shop and looked up at the many elegant masks for the Solstice. My fingers glazed over a black silk mask, with black diamonds and rubies. "How much?" I asked. "Just take it." The elderly woman replied curtly and walked away to fix the masks. I stood in shock for a few moments before I took the mask, and went to Alices- or rather Ezekiel's home. "How lovely to see you so soon," Alice spoke, opening the door. "Come!" I said dragging her out of the house. "You need a mask for the summer solstice!" "I suppose.." We reached the same little shop and began to search for masks. "Oooh! look at this one!" I spoke, holding up a mask that looked like it was for a queen. She repeatedly nodded her head in approval. "Great! You will look beautiful." I said as handed her the mask. "You need to go." The storekeeper abruptly says to me. "W-Why?" I questioned with a shaky voice. "Go!" She spoke louder this time and began to shoo me out with a broom.
I waited outside for Alice, fear welling up in my chest. What the fuck was that lady's problem?! Alice stepped out with the mast, and a vaguely scared look on her face. "Geez, I don't quite know what the fuss was about, but as long as we got what we needed," I said, no longer wanting to dwell on the topic.
I opened the door to find Miles with half of his clothes torn off, on the couch, a hot blush covering his face as he breathed heavily.
He always looks so.. rich and elegant. White chunks of hair were scattered around his face, somehow making him more attractive.
"Amity." He said my name as if he weren't expecting me.
"Are you," I pause bracing myself. "Are you okay?" I finished, walking close to him, and placing a hand on his forehead.
"Come here now," he demanded, pulling me over to him. He sat me down and began to untie the corset of my dress.
I didn't need to beat around the bush and demand to know what he was trying at. I knew already.
"Take this and run," Miles said, handing me a small purple stone, and then sticking a piece of paper on my back.
"The moon," I heard him whisper under his breath. The way he said it made me think it was something I shouldn't have heard.
I grimly nodded my head and dashed out of the cottage, without question.
While the house was still in earshot, I could hear shrill and ear-piercing screams flowing out of the cottage like water.
My body stopped running and faced it, with earnestness. Smoke and sparks came rushing out of the cracks, coming close enough to touch the tips of my toes. Trees caved in over my head, blocking all of the starlights from touching the floor beneath. Just what the fuck is going on? Does Miles expect me to run away when he's screaming so loudly? Maybe I would regret walking back into that house, but then again, maybe I wouldn't. My pace quickened as if Miles was moaning out my name in fear that I left him for good. As soon as I stepped inside, a cold and chilling presence settled in. It was as quiet as a graveyard. All of the screaming had come to an end, leaving Miles nowhere to be found. I could feel a warm presence gliding down my leg, but I just couldn't see it.
I quickly smacked the unseeing presence away with a quick flick of my wrist. "Come back to me... please...!" I cried out, wet hot tears streaming down my face.
"Go~ or you'll regret it." A voice- no, Miles's voice spoke, but I couldn't quite tell where it was coming from.
"No."
I don't know why but the need to stay was strong enough that I couldn't ignore it.
Strong hands gripped my waist, shoving me against the wall. "Awh~ Good thing I thought ahead..." His voice trailed off, as his hands delicately traced my thighs. He squished my thighs, a soft laugh coming from his mouth.
He lifted me and continued to grip my thighs.
"Ngh- w- ahh! What's gotten i-into yo-"I spoke, trying to focus on my words and not the tongue flickering between my legs.I tried to shove his head away, but I just can't find it. I saw long pure white strands of hair now and again tickling my leg. "Please! I'll go!" My voice weakened, and my thoughts lead me to Lord Archer. What is this all about? "I'm Afraid Amity, that I have to leave~" his voice purred, stopping the sensation. Free. I want to be free. I stood there looking at a wall with a blank mind.
As he was walking away I could see a bright glowing aura and his now longer hair covering his naked body. I saw him for a flash of a second, and then I didn't.
Confusion struck harder now that I was alone.
At least the summer solstice was tomorrow
