I had already been awake for several hours, and talked about various topics with Miles , until we finally arrived at our destination.
Below me, I saw dozens of people- or rather, dozens of fae, dancing and singing in merriment. "What is all of this about??" I asked Miles , wondering if he could hear me over all of the many instruments being played.
"Well dear, these High and Lesser Fae are celebrating the upcoming war..." his voice was laced with disappointment.
"Oh my.. why would they celebrate such a thing if many of their own men will die?!" I wish I wasn't as passionate about this as I was, but I couldn't help it. Sons, husbands, fathers, would all be lost, for what gain?
"Simply to clean vampires from the face of the world. A noble cause isn't it?"
The hate in his words made me wonder why the fae hated the vampires so much? I mean, sure, all the time I'd been with one id either been receiving snide remarks or back handed compliments, but it wasn't any thing purely evil.
Miles sat me to the ground before carefully settling on his next words.
"Now, my precious little lamb, go enjoy yourself! I have some.. work.. I need to take care of.." a bright smile decorated his face, almost as if he put on a mast to hide his true self, as he wondered off, before I could speak a single word.
Though it was rather rude to leave a lady all alone with mighty and powerful fae, the music consumed me whole, and I wondered deeper into the crowds.
Streamers hung on the trees, decorating the forest. From where I stood, I saw a group of women dancing in a circle with their drums, and long flowy dresses.
One of the women, with dark black hair and red makeup making her face look more polished, beckoned me over to the group of them.
"Come human! Rejoice with us!" But before I could reply, she grabbed my hand and dragged me into their circle of dance.
I danced and dance with the women, and laughed the night away.
"Come Amity!!" The woman, who's name I learned to be Estrella, called.
Grabbing her hand, I let her pull me over to a group of men.
"Let's have fun shall we? It's not every day a handsome group of soldiers is free to party!"
Though it did sound rather fun, I would rather not take more than one man to bed at once.
"You do know that I have a mate?" I asked Estrella, rather unsure.
"Hmm.. good point, besides, more for me!" She giggled, swiftly removing her dress.
The group of men obediently followed her, like baby ducklings, trailing behind their mother, as she walked to a more secluded area with enough space for the ten of them.
Beyond Estrella I hadn't made any other friends, other than the common acknowledgment that they were in the same space as me.
Deciding to spend the rest of my time alone and looking at the beautiful landscapes, I took a seat on a log, much farther away from the rest of the celebration.
"Ah~ it looks like you enjoyed yourself." Miles' voice tickled my ears, sending a shiver down my spine.
"Quite. You've been gone an awful long time.." my voice trailed off near the end. I didn't want to pry, but if he was my mate, then I felt that it would be appropriate for me to even just know a small amount of information.
"I'm flattered that you worry for me~"
"I nev-"
And before the rest of my sentence could reach the tip of my tongue, my lips were smashed together with Lucis.
