Sunlight broke through the crack of the drapes in the dormitory. I had to face classes today for the first time in what felt like forever. As I pulled back the cover of my large four poster I noticed Ruby's bed was already made. Was she afraid of me now? I doubted it. One of the only pieces of the puzzle that was making sense was why she had her outburst with me in the common room following the party in Ravenclaw tower. Luka had told Sebastian that they had planned to interrogate me but the potions I had taken had clouded my mind. Ruby probably hadn't planned for that and that was why she was so furious with me. It also explained why Ominis had dragged me from the window sill where I was huddled up with Luka. He seemed to have realised Luka had slipped some Veriteserum into my Butterbeer in order to get answers. One thing had been niggling away at me, however. The night I had eavesdropped on Sebastian and Luka, the night I realised I had something they wanted, something Mammy had, Sebastian had told Luka not to blame Ominis for stealing me away at the party. He had said it was what anyone would've done in Ominis' position.
What position was that?
Suddenly the memories of the night before rushed back.
The blonde man on the hill. He had infiltrated my mind. Was he after the same thing as the other three? How had he known where to find me? And why did he remind me of Ominis?
As I glanced round my room I suddenly noticed all of the other girls bed's were also empty and already made. My head whipped toward the large grandfather clock.
8:45am
Fuck.
I pulled my robes on and ran a brush through my knotted black hair before tossing it haphazardly onto my bed. Pulling knee high socks on with one hand brushing my teeth with the other.
I had to make it to Transfiguration in fifteen minutes, the dreamless sleep potion Ominis had given me had worked a bit too well. I'd need to stop relying on them. I rushed out the door to the Slytherin common room with five minutes to spare. I had ran up two staircases before having to turn back for my wand that was still on my bedside table."Miss Moore!" Professor Weasley had a large suitcase on her desk while a gaggle of students including Poppy and Natty all turned to look toward the door I'd just ran through.
"Sorry Professor, bit of a nightmare this morning, don't mind me!" I said as I shuffled past a couple of Gryffindor boys to sit in between Natty and Poppy. I realised I'd hardly seen them and I hadn't had the chance to tell them about my most recent discovery as a product of my late night spying.
Professor Weasley gave me a long hard look before turning back to the suitcase. She was explaining how to use extension charms to transform small spaces into larger bags or even rooms.
I waited with baited breath for her to ask us to start working through our textbooks so I could fill in the girls, but my train of thought was broken by a "Psssst.." to my left.Gareth Weasley had been one of the Gryffindor's I had shuffled past. Fuck Off. I had completely forgotten about the way I had acted with him at last week's party. He had been so close to me , so close in fact I could feel his excitement in his hips. I cringed at the memory.
He cast a small paper butterfly my way while Professor Weasley's back was turned.I caught it in my hand and Natty smirked while Poppy looked very occupied with her textbook. I unfolded the parchment flat against my book.
"Hello stranger, fancy catching up at lunch ?-GW"
I looked over to him. He wasn't unattractive. He just wasn't...my cup of tea. His red hair swept fashionably behind his ears, freckles speckled over his broad nose and a smile that would've made the devil weak at the knees. But he was too eager, too chirpy. Like a friendly Labrador. I looked back to the parchment. Lunch.
Oh no.
Luka had wanted to meet me today for a "chat". My heart fell into my stomach. Did he know I was onto him and the others. Had he noticed my sudden use of Occlumency ? What if he was just going to corner me with Ruby and Sebastian and try to force the information I didn't have from my lips.
