"Kindly remove your foot from my face."

"Mmmph...what?"

"Kitty get your fucking foot out my mouth."

My eyes focused on the room. Sleep tempting them closed again. There was a sharp pain in my toe and I kicked out instinctively against the attacker. "Fuck!"

I sat up Ominis was holding his nose. We were top and tail on top of the massive bed he had created for me the day before. Once again traumatised by the revelations in the pensive, we had traipsed to the cottage in silence, collapsing fully clothed onto my bed, mentally drained. The sky outside was darkening.

"Did you bite me?" I hissed examining my toe.

"It didn't hurt shut up. We better move actually, what time is it?" Ominis asked , seeming content that I had not broken his nose. My head thumped as I searched around toward the grandfather clock Ominis had created for me. It showed 17:49. We had been asleep for nearly nine hours. The full day had escaped us after our much shorter trip to Mammy's office.

"Why does it matter Ominis ? Where are we going?" I rubbed the sleep from my eyes, watching him as he reached into his coat pocket that had been tossed carelessly onto the floor. He pulled out a fresh shirt, from what one could only assume was an extended pocket.

"You forget you promised your Macushla and her mother we would join them for dinner.' He smirked , unbuttoning his white shirt to replace it with the black one, flourishing his wand delicately over it to remove the creases. I groaned and flopped backward onto the bed. My brain was soup. I couldn't process anything at all. Much less a dinner with a room full of muggles. I adored them of course, but I could only imagine the questions they'd have after my year and a half hiatus following my mother's death.

"I really can't Ominis I have so much to do. I need to get a crystal ball , I need to try and remember where I put the ring." It was so frustrating. Only I knew where I had hidden it. Not even my mother could help me with that.

"Kitty! You can't do anything about it right now. Can't we try and live our lives for a bit ? You said yourself , no one can get it apart from you. My father isn't going to find it."

"But he might find us." I pointed out, stumbling over toward the large window. There was no owl in the tree. Not yet anyway. I exhaled a shaky breath, fogging up the window. The warm glow from the village did look inviting. I felt a hand on my shoulder and I turned to see Ominis smiling.

"He won't. Why don't I go and ward the cottage, disillusionment, some protective charms? Will that make you feel better?" He asked reassuringly. I nodded in agreement and while Ominis creaked down the wooden stairs I tried to mentally prep myself. I pulled a green jumper over my head and wore my dragon hide trousers and boots. I needed a story and Ominis and I would have to be singing from the same hymn sheet. This was going to be a riot.

"Just keep it in your pocket don't let the kids see it." Ominis and I stumbled down the icy cobbles toward Molly's house. The snow had stopped falling from the sky and the icy air had frozen the remaining slush, making the walk down the hill fairly treacherous.

"I'm hardly going to let those little brats near my wand am I? I've met muggles before Kitty." Ominis huffed, stuffing his wand into his trouser pocket. I had considered leaving my own in the cottage but Ominis talked me out of it. It was now safely tucked into my waistband under my sweater.

"Just remember don't say anything about school. Just say you've got a normal muggle job. And don't mention your family, or that we are related. Don't say anything about their house, they haven't a lot of money. And don't call the children brats in front of Molly. And don-"
