Authors note
This is now my biggest chapter at 12090 words. I would like to point out there are a lot of time jumps through Ominis' memory and as it covered a large span of time the descriptions aren't as detailed. I also tried to describe only sounds touch and smell for Ominis' POV.
This is to ensure the plot was fully covered.
Thank youTen days later
The dust settled. The air was clear as I sat on my bed. I brushed my fingers across the bedspread as I admired the various objects at my feet.
His books, his clothes, his wand.
I rubbed circles in a rhythm on my bed , but it didn't feel the same as circling his skin...the sun glared through the water outside the window.
There was a soft knock on the door.
"Come in." I said, not turning to look.
"Kitty?"
"Sit down Albus." I said , patting the bed, my eyes still on my brothers wand. I felt a weight shift on the bed beside me.
"How did you know it was me?" He asked from somewhere behind me. I tapped my temple absentmindedly, finally turning to look at the young boy. Beardless, smooth skin, hands untarnished by dark magic. But the sapphire eyes remained, twinkling with an unfathomable knowledge beyond his years.
"I'm sorry. I didn't realise Ominis was your brother." He said softly.
My chest tightened at the sound of his name. "Thank you. He- he was...sorry." I said turning away from the boy to wipe a tear that had escaped my eyes. They had a bad habit of leaking recently.
Albus produced a handkerchief from his sleeve with a smile and I accepted it , laughing louder than seemed necessary to the younger Dumbledore. "You're very kind, thank you. Ruby asked you to come and see me I assume?" I sniffed. He nodded glancing down at the collection of Ominis belongings on the floor.
"Yes. She and another boy had your trunk and were taking it downstairs. Are you really not coming back next year?" He asked looking up from under his lashes. I shook my head.
"No. Hogwarts has served its purpose for me. I'll move on from here. I need to give you something. I know you will have questions, but I'm afraid I won't be able to answer them. All I can tell you is that it's incredibly important you look after it." I said, rummaging in my beaded bag.
I placed the envelope in Albus' hand and he looked at it, turning it over and running his finger over the blood splatter.
"Oh, wait." I said suddenly, snatching it back from him. I retrieved a quill from the bedside and scribbled across the back.
Open on 1st June 1996.
Albus followed the trail of ink upside down and scoffed.
"Kitty, I've to keep this with me till then? I'll be dead, surely." He chuckled, accepting the letter from my fingers.
"No. You won't be. Promise you'll look after it." I asked reaching out to push his hair out of his eyes. He nodded with a small smile.
"I promise."
"Brave boy." I smirked , turning back to the belongings in the wooden floor.
"My brother said there was always a choice. Even though at times, you might feel like what you're doing is wrong, as long as it's done with good in mind. Then you've made the right choice. I know you'll make good choices Albus." I said , smoothing my thumb across his cheek. His eyes were wide as he searched my face."Will you come back? Will we meet again?" He asked standing from the bed, tucking the envelope into his Gryffindor robes.
"Yes. We will. It might not be soon. But I'll see you again. Good luck Albus." I smiled turning away from the boy and back to my brothers belongings.
