My head hit the ground hard as I landed flat on my back with an earsplitting crack. My right side stung with sharp hot pain , my stomach was lurching with the motion sickness that followed apparating. I could still feel my thigh holster tight round my leg and the strap of my beaded bag was still across my torso. I heard a second crack not too far away and a yell of pain. Ruby.Upon opening my eyes I was met with spots of light, I likely had a concussion, how hard had I hit my head? I felt my way down my body to reach for my thigh holster...it was empty. My wand was gone.
Panic raced through my bones as I tired to concentrate on my surroundings. I blinked the spots of light away from my eyes as I tried to focus on where I'd been taken to. A sky silent and clear above me , littered with twinkling stars. There was a sound of wind through trees and the nearby squelch of boots on wet grass. I turned my head to search for the source of the boots and was met with a sharp pain and a crunch of bone , the boot coming into contact with my face.I gasped against the blood, spitting it out onto the grass next to me.
"Not so pretty now are you? Maybe that will teach you to humiliate me in front of my entire family." A voice growled from above me. I tried to open my eyes and focus but the spots of light were back more than ever, blurring my vision.
"Zephyr. Please. We need her conscious." Another voice came from further away. I trembled as I reached my stinging arm down again, forgetting I'd already checked and my wand holster was empty. I bit back the temptation to cry and started to open my eyes again, a blond head looking down at me.
"Open up." He said wiggling a potion above my face. I shook my head.
"Open your fucking mouth!" He yelled. I shook my head again. He sighed and then grinned, pulling his wand from his pocket.
"Let's see how you like a taste of your own medicine...hmm? CRUCIO!"
The pain was unbearable, hot and electric, twisting my muscles so they felt as though they were turning inside out. My back arching from the ground, desperate to escape the curse. My gargled scream penetrated the night air , followed by one further away, again, Ruby.
"Move you idiot, you're going to kill her. Then you'll be fucked for money and mark my words I'm not sharing." Came a growling voice , now just above my head. The pain stopped and my back fell to the wet grass again. I felt the pain in my arm subside as a liquid was poured into my unwilling mouth.
"Splinched. We should've used a portkey." The gruffer voice, who I assumed was Killian, said as the potion was swallowed eagerly. I recognised the taste. My mothers potion.
"Who fucking cares, sit her up and let's get this over with. What've you done with our dear sister?"
"Over there. Restrained. For now."
My vision returned again to see two identical heads glowering down and staring intently into my face. Killian drew his wand, pointing it square between my eyes. "Episkey."
There was a dull crunch and I felt my nose re set itself, his two strong arms pulled me up into a sitting position. It was a wide clearing in a woodland that was vaguely familiar. The trees as tall as the forbidden Forrest, but the air smelled different. A little ways away was a crumpled pile of white silk, shrouding a shivering Ruby as she struggled against invisible ropes that seemed to be holding her in place. Where was my wand?
"Kitty!" She yelled desperately from across the meadow, wriggling to no avail against her brothers magic.
"Shut up slut, you'll get your turn." Snapped Zephyr from behind me as Killian knelt on the wet grass in front of me, brushing a curl out of my eyes in an almost gentle gesture. His smile was again strangely soft as he began to speak.
