"Jess!" My mom called from the bottom of the stairs. "It's ten after seven and you have this leave for you first day in you new school in twenty minutes. Hurry dup!"
"I'm getting ready!" I sighed as I sat up in my bed. New School meant new people, and I hated trying to make friends.
I rolled out of bed and grabbed the clothes I had picked out the night before. A cute pink top, with black leggings(pictured above)
I quickly got dressed, brushed my teeth, and did my long blonde hair is a waterfall braid. Dress to impress on the first day.
I sat down at the kitchen table and poured myself a bowl of cereal. Special K with red berries. At 7:25am my mom rushed me out the door just so she knew I wouldn't be late. We lived fifteen minutes away, and school started at seven forty-five.
I arrived five minutes early, with a couple other kids. The girl, looked like she was in sixth grade, and the boy looked like he was in ninth grade, same as me. And honestly, I had to admit, he was cute. I walked over to them, and the girl greeted me with a huge smile.
"Hi!" She said, grinning. "I'm Annie, you must be Jessica."
"Yeah, how'd you know? And nice to meet you."
"I live next door. This is my brother, Caleb."
The boy turned around and gave me a small smile. I smiled back. "Hey," he said.
"Hi," I responded, brushing my fly-aways out of my face.
At that moment, a voice broke through our introductions. "Caleb!" A girl with long, shiny, straight, strawberry red hair hurried up to us. She kissed Caleb on the cheek. "Who's she?"
"April, this is Jess. Jess, this is my girlfriend, April," Caleb said through clenched teeth, sounding annoyed.
The first bell rang, allowing us to enter to building.
"April's his girlfriend?" I asked Annie.
"Yeah, why?"
"He doesn't seem to like her."
"I know. She used to be nice. She'd hang out with Hayley and I, and she'd make us presents. After she joined cheer, I don't know, she got nasty. That was six months ago. Ever since then, Caleb's been miserable."
"Why doesn't he break up?"
"She threatened that if he did, she'd spread rumors, and get him arrested for 'mentally abusing' her, or whatever. He's scared to break up. And trust me, April really did love him when they started dating at the beginning of eighth grade," Annie told me. "But know, she's always rude."
"Oh," I said. Annie parted ways with me, as I tried to find my locker. It was just my luck when I found it was three lockers down from Caleb's on the left, and seven lockers down from April on the right.
April was standing by Caleb's locker, and it looked like they were arguing. I didn't mean to eavesdrop, but I didn't like seeing people unhappy, and I also was curious as to what they were arguing about after Annie told me the truth about April.
"I don't care if you need money to buy your mom a present," Caleb said, putting his thing in his locker.
"But her birthday's tomorrow," April complained.
"Then that's your problem, not mine," Caleb retorted. "Go ask one of your friends for money."
April looked shocked that he denyed her, and then she narrowed her eyes. "You are the worst boyfriend ever," she hissed. "I mind as well find a new one while I can."
"Fine, go ahead. Because really don't care!" Caleb slammed his locker shut, before turning around. When he saw me there, he paused. "I guess you saw that whole thing, huh?"
"Yeah, that was pretty brutal," I responded.
"I guess, I don't know. Sorry you had to listen to that."
"It's fine," I smiled.
"Okay, I guess I'll see you around," Caleb said, before heading off.
I left in their opposite direction and I couldn't wait to get home. School was exhausting, and I really didn't have the patience for boy/girl drama.
First chapter. So I hope you liked it, and don't worry, there Wil be better chapter, but this is the first one, and I think it's always hard to find the right start to a story.
