Caleb didn't show up at school the next day. Or the day after. On the third day my teacher asked where he was.

"Jessica, do you know where Caleb is?" She asked, as she passed out papers. His desk had been empty for over half the week.

"No," I mumbled. "But I could check on him."

"Good, or if I don't hear back from you tomorrow, I'm going to have to give his parents a call."

I knew that wouldn't do any good. The reason he's avoiding school is probably because of the fight he had with not just Chris, the junior, but also his mom.

After school I walked over to his house and rang the doorbell. His sister Hayley came to the door.

"Jess!" She screamed. After those couple days, Hayley, Annie, and I have become really close. I like to consider them my sisters. Annie came sprinting in and they both tackled me to the ground with hugs.

"Hey guys!" I said, laughing hysterically, so they probably didn't understand a word I said. Once we stopped laughing like maniacs, we sat up. "Whats going on with you?"

"I learned how to do a round off back handspring!" Hayley screamed.

"I landed my full in my tumbling pass!" Annie yelled. "How 'bout you?"

"Well, I did nothing," I said.

"Come on! You had to have done something! How about soccer, or skating?" Hayley asked.

"Well, as a skater, I finally got down my axle," I laughed. Annie laughed along. "As for soccer I finally mastered to art of kicking the ball into the right net."

Hayley fell on the floor laughing. I hadn't played soccer since I was four, and frankly, I don't even remember how the field is set up, but hey,in my defense skating has taken up a lot of my time.

"Anyway, guys. I'm here because my teacher sent me to check up on Caleb. Is he okay?"

Annie answered after a long silence. Hayley didn't know what had hppened, thank god. "He's sick. "

"All week?"

"All week."

"Well I'm going to check up on him. I'll be back down soon."

I walked down the stairs, where Caleb's bedroom was. I wasn't positive he was really sick. I had a feeling he was just faking it so he didn't have to face April again. I mean, I wouldn't blame him. April is a really scary person when she lets her temper and spoiledness(??not a word, I know??) get the best of her.

I knocked on the door, but there was no answer. I turned the door knob, and the door was open. The light was dim, but I could see in the mess of the room, underneath the covers of the bed, Caleb was underneath there.

"Caleb?" I said softly.

He shifted, and turned towards me. "Hey Jess," he responded. More like croaked. His voice sounded hoarse. So maybe I was wrong, and maybe he was really sick.

"Annie tells me you're sick."

He nodded. "Why?"

"Our math teacher is won during why you've been absent all week." I said.

"Well tell her I'm sick," he coughed. He didn't sound good for being sick for four days already. I sat down on the bed, as he sat up.

"Caleb. I asked Annie this. Are you really worth waiting for? If you say yes, I'll believe you, but I want to hear it from you."

"What?"

"After your fight, You weren't, you, if you know what I mean. I want to know if I'm wasting my time waiting for you."
