"Caleb! Wait!" I shouted. He was already ahead of me, so I had to Sprint to catch up. "Please don't do anything to her."
"What?"
"Don't do anything bad to her."
"Why?"
"If you do, that would just make you no better than she is. I don't want you to be someone you aren't."
Caleb stared at a big blue house. "There it is. You'll be okay, right?"
He changed the subject! "Caleb, look at me. Promise me you won't do anything. Promise, you'll be yourself."
"I promise," he sighed. "You sure you'll be okay in there? I don't want to drag you into this and have you feel uncomfortable."
"This was my choice, i'll be fine," I lied. To be honest, I was scared of what was behind that wall. The girl wanted me dead, and whose to say she won't follow through.
He nodded his head, walked up to the door and knocked. I could feel my heart beating faster. I gripped Caleb's hand, and he squeezed it back.
The doorknob turned, and it opened. A girl about nineteen opened the door.
"Who are you?" She asked.
"Um, and old friend of your sister, Halle," Caleb responded.
"Hey, now I remember you. You can come in. Halle! There's someone here you might want to see!"
"Give me a second!" A voice called from upstairs.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Caleb asked, one last time.
I sighed. "No, I'm not, Caleb. Honestly, I'm scared. She threatened to kill me, indirectly, but still. What if she follows through with that plan?"
"I promise, I will never let you get hurt, Jess," Caleb said softly, wrapping me in a hug. "I love you too much to ever let anything happen."
We broke apart, as footsteps shuffled down the stairs. A girl with long, shiny, auburn hair, in loose waves came down the steps. She looked like a model.
"Caleb?" She asked, looking surprised. "Why are you here?"
"I know what you did Halle," he told her blatantly. "I just don't know why you would do it."
She looked confused, but I could tell in her eyes, she knew exactly what he was talking about.
"And this is?" She asked again, motioning to me.
"Jess, this is Jess."
"Who?"
"She's my girlfriend. Why did you send her those texts?"
"What texts?"
"Give me your phone," Caleb demanded.
"No."
"Do you have something to hide?"
"Personal stuff."
"Give it up, Halle."
"Fine." She handed her phone over, with a slight smirk forming on her face.
"Her phone has a password, I bet."
"I know what it is," Caleb said, pressing a few keys. 0914. Her phone unlocked. "Her birthday."
I watched over his shoulder as he looked through Halle's messages. I found a thread sent to my number.
"Its there."
He opened the text thread, and I saw the exact same messages sent to me on her phone. Halle was the culprit for this. Now it's confirmed.
"Halle, why would you do this?" Caleb asked. "You weren't like this in seventh grade."
"No, I wasn't. People change, Caleb," she said. "Follow me."
Halle led us upstairs to her room. This seemed awfully familiar. I knew exactly where this was heading, and I didn't like it.
Another chapter! This one was short. The next one will probably be the last chapter, sorry I know short. But I will be making a sequel, which I hope will make it to 20+ chapters, so, yeah.
I have a title already, but I am sorry to inform all of you it's a secret until I write the book. The only hint I'll give you is it's part of song lyrics. Comment what you think it will be!
I hope you enjoyed this chapter! Love you guys a ton!!
