The next morning, was the same routine as the morning before. I got ready for school, and ate breakfast. Since it was my second day, I still arrived early, and Annie and Caleb arrived around the same time.
"Hey Jess!" Annie called, and she ran over to me.
"Hi Annie, hey Caleb," I said, walking over to the two.
Caleb waved, and walked over. He still seemed a little off from the argument he had with April the day before.
"Hi Jess," he said to me, looking at the ground.
"Whats up-"
"Caleb!" April's voice interrupted. She had a fake smile plastered onto her face, and Caleb groaned.
"I need a favor," she continued. "I need you to-"
"No."
"Excuse me?"
"I said no. I'm not doing anything else for you, April. I know you're just using me, and it's not going to work anymore," Caleb repeated.
"No one say no to me"
The bell rang, and all of the kids filed into the school building.
"I just did."
I turned to see April steaming behind us. She sprinted up to Caleb, and honestly, she ran pretty fast. Faster than I expected her to in heels, anyway.
She grabbed him by the back of the shirt, and pulled her back. She gave him a death glare right in the eyes, and he gave one back to her.
April finally backed down. "You have no idea what you've done. I will report you if you ever do anything like that again!"
"Say no to you? April, I really liked you before, but now. I just can't deal with you. You are a attention seeking bitch, and i think you should know that I'm breaking up with you."
"You're dead, Caleb. And I mean it." She walked away without a second glance.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"I-I'm fine," Caleb answered, though he didn't seem fine. Or look fine either. He looked very shaken up. "I am so sorry you always get caught up in this kind of stuff."
"It's okay," I responded.
I walked with him to first period, until the first bell for first period rang.
The day droned on and on. I almost fell asleep during history. The end of the day finally arrived. I was getting a ride from Annie and Caleb, since my mom had to work.
Annie was the first to reach the car. A second later I arrived. I saw another girl in the back seat of the car.
"Who's that?" I whispered to Annie.
"Hayley, she's my youngest sister."
"Oh. Hi," I said introducing myself to her. "I'm Jess."
"Hi, I'm Hayley." She looked about eight or nine.
Caleb finally got into the car after ten minutes of waiting.
"Let's go," he said.
"What took so long?" His mom asked.
"Jammed locker."
I could tell he was lying, even if his mom bought his excuse.
Miss. Katie nodded, and started the car. When we finally arrived at our houses, I saw Caleb didn't go into the house. Instead he sat on the porch area with his head in his heads.
I walked over. "Seriously. Caleb, are you sure you're okay?"
He was silent for a moment. "I don't even know anymore," he responded, lifting his head.
"I don't want to pry, but what really happened after school."
"Nothing."
I wanted to know the real reason, but there seemed no point in pushing him. "Ok," I said reluctantly, "but if you need someone to ever talk to, I'm always right next door."
He looked up and gave a small smile. "Thanks, Jess. I really appreciate that."
I glanced back one more time, before going back into my house.
That night I couldn't stop thinking about Caleb. His smile, his hair, his eyes. They were perfect. I never thought this would happen to me, but I think I've been hit with Cupid's Arrow. I think I'm in love.
So, done! How'd you think? Slow, probably. I have the middle/end figured out, but not the beginning, so sorry if these chapter turn out pretty crappy. Anyway, I still hope you enjoyed this!!
