Chapter XVIII: Just the Beginning

"So yall boys understand?" Melvin says standing in front of 20 men.

"Yes sir!" And like roaches they all dispersed, getting ready for tonight.

"I'm excited. Y'all excited? I'm excited. Nobody excited huh? I am. Im getting all itchy like a crackhead with no crack." Jay says scratching his arms making Jamor slap the back of his neck.

Messiah walks away stressed, tired, and worst of all scared.

His mind wonders nowhere and everywhere all at once.

"Yo you think my lil brother was like I don't know bro, in love or something?" Melvin says and Tj can't help but make the connection between Marcus, Messiah and Melvins father, to Melvin himself. Both men lack common sense.

Tj breaths out, his own stress hitting him all at once. When he gathers his thoughts, after a few seconds of silence, he starts speaking with a serious tone to the three boys.

"I can't speak for Siah but I do know this...Mayari is like star in the sky to him. The brightest one there could be, she made him sane. The "King" he was before and the King she made him now are two different people. You weren't around foreal so you don't know how messed up bro was...Then he got happy outta no where Siah wasn't his old self no more he calmed down, he became better mentally. It wasn't just outta nowhere, when we met Mayari again that day he changed. From what he said they been knew each other through they moms but they moms lived different lives and things changed from when they was babies until they found each other by chance. Her being gone is messing with his mind and bringing him back to that state from before. I'm just hoping that we find her soon before things get even worse for everybody."

*Three hours earlier*

"Yerrrrr. What it do lil bro?" Melvin says smiling until he looks at Messiah who is sitting in his office chair with his hands to his mouth and his mind clearly somewhere else.

"Damn what the hell done happen? I thought we was finna have some sibling bonding time shit maybe even plot somebody death. I walk in this bitch and it look like someone already done died."

Everyone in the room is silent still. All of them heard him but just didn't know what to say or how to start. Mostly all of them expecting Messiah to take charge as he usually does. Until Tj does a quick rundown of the situation they are in.

"Mayari missing. The tracker on her necklace and phone stopped moving in front of some random ass store. We searched around the whole area for a while and didn't see her. Then we tried other methods up until a few hours ago and we still can't find her. The only lead we got is in the Red Room. And nigga not saying a fuck thing that's why we called you to get anything out of him. He's half dead so don't kill him fully until he say something." Tj throws himself on the couch he was closest to and puts him head back closing his eyes.

Tj and Messiah been up since yesterday morning and the twins fell asleep in the car last night after the physical search for Mayari, then got mad when they were woken up. Then one fell asleep on the couch and the other in a chair next to the couch. Both of them snoring and each one got louder as they went back and forth, like they were competing with each other even in their sleep.

"Ight someone gotta show me where dude at." Messiah gets up and walks past his brother without a word and the semi smart Melvin follows him to the 'Red Room'. When they get there Messiah knocks four times and someone opens a door. The door lead to another hall much shorter than the one they just walked. Messiah stops at a door on his right and opens it. The room covered in red splatters on a milk white background, earning its name.
