Chapter XXXIV: My Man

"Wait so y'all are technically childhood friends."

"That reunited and fell in loooveee?? That's like the cutest thing ever!" Tierra says with a big smile and Kamron shakes his head still looking at whatever is so interesting on his phone.

I'm not nosey but I meannnn. What has your undivided attention if it's not me? I know something is wrong with him and yeah we aren't that close for him to be telling me every single thing but I don't know. Maybe I was hoping we were.

"And you couldn't just tell us that when we've asked?" Tiana says throwing a pillow at him. She misses throwing it next to his head and onto the floor but that makes him get off his phone.

"I don't ask y'all who you're with and how you got together." He says putting his arm around my waist and somehow pulling me closer to him so now i'm leaning against him.

"Uhhhhh you don't ask at all Kamron."

"Well then I clearly don't wanna know Tierra." Kamron says rubbing his face. He seems annoyed but he just came downstairs a few minutes ago so I don't know what could've happened in such a short time.

"Okay then pissy. Anywayyyy have you talked to dad? He said you've been ignoring him and he just wants to talk." Tiana says playing with her hair in the full body mirror next to the large windows.

That might be why he's like this. All stressed and out of focus. Maybe it's family issues.

"Y'all came over here to ask about him. If that's the case y'all can leave. I'm not dealing with that man and his stupid ass ideas. We have a date tonight anyway and Mayari needs to get ready."

"Only me?" I ask him turning towards him now leaning away from him.

"I do too. But your pretty self takes a long time to get ready. So you need an extra hour maybe more." He shrugs and smiles but it's clearly sarcastic and not cute at all.

"Whateverrr so you're taking me home then coming back to pick me up?" I ask rolling my eyes. It's true I do take a long time to get ready. But I just like to make sure I look good and dress for the occasion. Nothing wrong with that. We should be worried if it only takes you 30 minutes or less to get ready now that's a crime.

"Yes beautiful. And no before you ask I don't care. I know you probably want to do your hair a different way and try on fifty-five different outfits before you choose the right one." I roll my eyes again because he clearly thinks he knows something and he's right but still. I get up to go upstairs and grab my things.

"We didn't come here just for that brother. We wanted you to make sure you were good. We know you don't want to-alright then stop talking about it." He cuts off his sister and both of them don't say anything which tells me this topic is something serious. I don't see either of them listening the first time after being told something. Or maybe, like I suspect, it's a topic he doesn't want me to know about.

I hope tonight goes well that way we can get to the level of not feeling like we need to keep secrets. I'd like that a lot. I've never had a boyfriend or been able to with Messiah around. Tj was fine I think he would be suspicious of them but come around later on.

I don't tell Kamron everything either but I feel like I am a pretty open book to those I trust. Especially now I pick and choose who to trust and tell things too. And Kamron has earned my trust.

"You ready?" Kamron says standing in the doorway of the bathroom where I was looking at myself. I'm sure he's seen the bruises and cuts all over my body. With me being drunk and taking off my clothes somewhat in front of him it's not surprising if he did and just hasn't said anything about it.
