Omniscient
When Mayari and Kamron get back to their seats they began eating the second course which consisted of two different salads, a Ceaser and a Arugula salad with lemon vinaigrette.
To everyone that didn't have basic taste buds both salads were delicious and well made.
While those plates were taken away and the group were waiting for the next ones to come Melanie started to interrogate Kamron.
"So Kamron...Delmarco correct?"
Kamron looks past Mayari who's backed up her chair so the two could talk easily. "Yes that is correct Ms.Thompson."
"Why when I looked you up, nothing came up?" Mayari looked at her mom and honestly this topic even made Messiah and Tj stop talking all the way at the end of the table. Quickly with the silence of Kamron everyone had stopped talking and were now awaiting his response. They all came for Mayari and to support her of course, but this was always a test for Kamron to pass too. All they wanted was to protect her now and that is what they will do.
"Well...I'm not really on social media of any kind." Was his response but it wasn't really enough for anyone.
Aoi who is sitting directly across from Mayari speaks up with the next observation, "Yeah well that's cute and all but your father, that was him right who made the toast? Said he OWNS this restaurant surely there should've been some information about that. But oddly enough just like Mama Mel I couldn't find anything either." She says leaning forward with her elbows on the table and her hands clasped together. She leans her face down onto them with a smile making her almond eyes squint in response.
Kamron chuckles almost nervously at this little interrogation. He can feel his mask slipping ever so slightly. First his father making an unwelcome appearance and now this? All he had to do was his job just a little bit longer and Mayari wouldn't notice a thing. Or a least she wouldn't suspect a thing from him.
"My parents are private people, who raised private children. If you search the restaurant up you won't be able to see who owns it, same with the apartment high rise and two other restaurants he owns. Some people don't like to see black men win." He pauses for a second and looks towards the end of the table towards Tj then Messiah, "They'll do anything to take you down and make themselves look good." Everyone kind of just looks around some making faces at his comment.
It wasn't that he was wrong per se but the way he said it felt...off to say the least.
"So, Tierra and Tiana right? You must not be searchable either seeing as how you are his sisters and that mans daughters. He taught that privacy bullshit to y'all too right?" Melvin steps in now. Melvin has always been able to read people just like he did with Poopy months ago. Thing is, people could never read him easily. He'd say it was much easier that way.
"No I definitely am. Y'all should follow me on Insta i'm almost at 100k. I make lifestyle content." She says proudly quickly pulling up her page and showing everyone. Tiana just doesn't respond.
"And you?" Melvin looks towards Tiana, her face mugging all the staring eyes looking back at her.
"I'm a streetwear model. I'm on instagram too." Her sister pulls up her page for her, showing everyone the 80k followers she has.
"Yeah thought so." Melvin says leaning back into his chair.
Before anyone else can talk the third course comes out, a dish of a small and neatly cut lasagna comes out.
"Y'all damn sure rationing out here." Tj voices making some laugh and others shake their heads.
After fifteen minutes they take plates away and it's back to all eyes on Kamron and Mayari. But mostly Kamron. He wasn't escaping that easily from the jaws that is Mayari's loved ones.
