I sigh. A sense of both relief and disappointment coming over me.
There's a short, awkward silence before Yang laughs a bit and walks further in. She throws her arm around Ruby, and giggles a bit at both of our awkward expressions, "Whaaat?? Were ya'll confessing your love or something?"
She laughs out loud after saying that, pulling Ruby closer to her and into her chest. Ruby and I both laugh awkwardly in sync. "Yaaaaaannng!" Ruby whines. I look up at Blake, and she gives me a look that oozes 'sorry' in a playful manner.
I get up from the windowsill and stretch a bit, shaking away the sudden embarrassment as quickly as I can, "So! What're we gonna get up to?" I ask the room. A very poorly disguised attempt at hiding my attempt at a topic change.
"Me and Blake talked about goin' to the cafeteria for lunch as a team?" Yang suggests, letting go of Ruby, who's still recovering from her embarrassment. I'm able to catch Ruby huff a silent sigh from the corner of my eye as Yang tilts her head as if to further push the question to me.
I nod before giving a half-shrug afterward, "I'm game. I'm feeling a little bit hungry, I guess."
Yang smiles at my response and nods heartily, pulling her scroll out with an enthusiastic nod, "Right! I'll let Weiss know," Before I can ask where she is, Yang continues, "she wanted to stay behind in the library and study a little more."
I hum and gather up my notebook, walking past Blake and plopping it down on my bed. As I turn around I see Ruby stood up and seemingly comple composed now. Gathering something with the help of Yang. Looks like a huge book of some kind. Her face showing no telltale signs of her previous emotional toil. I glance back towards Blake and Yang and notice Blake turning to look at me.
She still lets that apologetic look seep from her, but now that I get a better look...
She looks... confused? Or maybe just tired.
Before I can dwell on the thought Yang's scroll goes off. She opens it and declares it was Weiss' response. And we set off to the cafeteria.
----------------------------
Weiss meets us halfway, and we set off together. Ruby and I both take a backseat to some discussion that Weiss and Yang have. Truth be told, I wasn't listening. I let my head wander a bit, thinking of the conversation we had, but before I can feel myself slip into that embarrassment again, I snap myself out.
I try to focus on my semblance again. Deciding that maybe break time is over about it.
The whole walk there, I ponder away in silence. Trying my best to figure a way to spur on an emotion strong enough to spark the semblance, but often get sidetracked when I remember I need to find a way to not go ballistic when it happens. I don't get very far before we get to the cafeteria, and Ruby quickly spots JNPR at the usual table we sit at. We grab our food and plop down in front of them and start our usual small-talk. It works out that I talk to Ren for the day. Jaune involves himself with Weiss, Pyrrha, and Yang, while Nora flips grapes into Yangs mouth. We all chat for a bit before Ruby stands up, and slams a gigantic book onto the table. (Where was she keeping that????)
"Ahem! Sisters, friends, Weiss!" Ruby begins, a small protest is heard from Weiss before she continues, "Four score and seven minutes ago, I had a dream. A dream that one day, the five of us would come together, as a team, and have the most fun anyone has ever had... EVER!"
"Did you steal my binder?" Weiss interjects.
"I think that's mine?" I say with an amuzed smile plastered on my face.
"I am not a crook!" Ruby responds to us.
"What are you talking about?" Blake chimes in, also sporting a sly grin.
