CAROLINE

I welomed the sun as it flooded in my room that morning. New York was so different than London in more ways than one. For one thing it was a lot sunnier here than at home. At the moment I was living in my uncle's Upper East Side Mansion which had an amazing view in the morning.

See I was nineteen years old and in my dad's eyes I was ready to start learning the family business, college education be damned. Of course if my mom was still alive she'd fight with every fiber of her being just to give me a normal life. He didn't even give a fig about me being at the top of my business class in Oxford.

I was Caroline Dagenham, socialite, billionaire, It-girl and what others call as Ms. Perfect with flawless ivory skin and luxurious deep chocolate colored hair and perfect figure. If you think wealth and stardom is all glitz and glamour think again. Try standing in the middle of a crowd of flashing bulbs and plastering a painful smile even though you're breasts are pushed up to your chin and your underwear seemed to be branding itself on your behind. I'd trade this life any day any time. This summer was supposed to be my break but no, my dad had other plans for me. My phone broke my reverie with its shrill ringing.

"Hi, daddy good morning." I said in my most polite voice.

"Hello, Caroline." His voice contained the slightest bit of enthusiasm just like it always did when he was talking to me.

"Why did you call me?" I sighed finding it useless to try.

"I want you back here in London." He said.

"What? My deal with the company isn't done yet." I said.

My dad sent me here in the first place for that reason. He thought that a deal with the fastest growing music company in the US would be good for the company. For the past month I've been breaking my back in reports, plans, and presentations. He can't just call me and send me home!

"I know and it seems to me like you're not doing a very good job at it." He was obviously busy on the other end since there was a bit of shuffling on his line.

"You can't just do that! I've been working so hard on this deal!" I sank down on the nearby chair.

"I'm not giving you a choice on this Caroline. I'm sending someone more qualified than you." He shut the phone and hung up.

"That asshole!" I screamed as I threw my phone on the bed.

"Caroooool!!!" the unmistakable voice of my cousin sounded from the hallway. I wiped the tears of frustration from my eyes.

Victoria would probably know what I was going through. Our dads were brothers and just like mine hers was controlling and workaholic. I guess it ran in the family. Victoria and George were my only cousins and it was a total shame they moved to the states when their business bloomed.

"Victoria." I croaked out. Victoria rounded the corner wearing a stylish outfit. She was a sight to behold with her natural auburn hair and bright blue eyes. Not to mention her body that curved in all the right places.

"Oh, Caroline, what happened to you?" She crouched in front of me and pulled me into a hug.

"My dad wants me to go back to London." I bawled out. Victoria reached for the tissue in the end table behind me.

"I thought you were doing that deal with the music company." She said. I blew my nose in the tissue and threw it on the floor in anger.

"He told me I wasn't cut out for the job and that he was sending a replacement." I said.
