CAROLINE
“What are you doing here?” Zayn asked in amazement.
“What are you doing here?” I threw back the question at him. He sat down beside me and put his glasses and hood back on.
“Well, this is one of my favorite parks in the city and it’s my day off. And you?” He asked.
“I don’t have day offs from my life and I kind of sort of ran away.” I mumbled the last part hoping that Zayn wouldn’t hear me. But he did because he chuckled softly.
“You kind of sort of ran away to go to the park?” He said. I rolled my eyes thankful that he couldn’t see my expression through my glasses.
“Whatever, don’t mock me.” I pouted.
“Awww, did little princess get her feelings hurt?” He teased. I smacked his arm and he winced.
“Aren’t you supposed to be somewhere else? Like a party or something.” I said. Rock stars did that right? They partied till the break of dawn and got huge hangovers the following morning.
“Just because I’m a rock star doesn’t mean I go partying every night.” He said.
“That’s not what I meant but if you take it that way then fine.” I said.
Right now Zayn for me was nothing but the guy I slept with. The same guy whom I forgot or would’ve forgotten if not for the constant reminder my dad posed on me every day when I woke up. From the corners of my eye I could see Zayn quietly smiling.
“What are the odds huh?” He threw back his head against the trunk of the tree and looked up.
“Of what?”
“Of us meeting each other under this park on the same willow tree.” He smiled and much as I hated to I smiled back.
“It is quite amazing.” I said.
“Why do you have to run away?” He asked.
“Because my dad assigned me body guards after news broke out of us hooking up in New York.” I said.
“There was news? How come I never heard of it?” I noticed that he edged closer to me.
“Because my dad took care of it.” I sighed. “Anyway, I have to go.” I got up and dusted off my jeans.
“Wait.” Zayn got up too and raced after me.
“What?” I faced him.
“Don’t uhh, go.” He stumbled.
“Now why would I do that?” I propped my hand on my hip and looked at him. Zayn was probably a foot taller than me or something so I had to look up.
“I thought maybe we could make a day out of this?” He smiled through his glasses.
“Cute, but I have to go back I ran away remember?” I continued to walk farther away from him.
“Tell me princess now when did you last let your heart decide?” Zayn ran after me and started to sing like Aladdin straight out of that Disney movie.
“Shhh!” I moved closer to him and tried to cover his mouth with my hand. But he childishly threw out his arms and literally swept me off my feet.
“A whole new world a new—“ He continued to sing.
“Okay! Okay! I’ll go with you, just please put me down.” I laughed. Zayn set me down my feet and did and exaggerated bow.
“Thank you my lady.” He said.
