CORNELIA

I brushed my hair again and adjusted my sunglasses. I’d be going back to London again. In a week I’d probably forget about the whole ordeal with Zayn Malik and forget that I had an affair with one of London’s no scratch that one of the world’s most sought after singer. Either way my dad wouldn’t be very happy once he finds out.

“Well, that’s the rest of it.” I pursed my lips and put my hands on my designer jeans pocket as the footman carried the last of my luggage downstairs. I turned to Victoria and her parents to say goodbye.

“Are you leaving now Caroline?” Victoria asked sadly.

Since it was in the middle of the afternoon I found them all in the study. George wasn’t there though he was just sixteen and he had to go to school. But earlier this morning we had our goodbyes.

“You take care now Caroline.” Aunt Bernadette got up from her spot gracefully as to not to wrinkle her dress. She came up beside me and pulled me into a hug.

My nose instantly filled up with the aroma of expensive French perfume which my aunt usually wears. She always had perfect hair, perfect outfit, perfect everything not because she wanted to but because she had to. It was also like that for my mother.

“Caroline, tell your dad I said hi.” Uncle Ben said smiling at me and giving me a nod. That was all I could get from him.

“Sure Uncle Ben and thanks for letting me stay.” I said.

“No problem only for my little niece.” He winked at me.

“Caroline!!! Don’t forget to call me!” Victoria said throwing her arms around me.

“Victoria, gracefully.” Her mom said as she went back to her position on the sofa. Victoria roller her eyes and pulled me outside the study closing the door behind us.

“If you get back with Zayn, call me.” Victoria smiled broadly as if she was a kid in a candy shop. I squinted my eyes evilly at her and raised my eyebrows.

“Are you serious?” I asked. Victoria smiled and took my arm leading me to the door.

“Come one, have a little bit of fun.” Victoria bumped me with her hip and almost caused me to topple over and twist my ankle.

“Bloody hell.” I gripped her arm hard. “Are you crazy I’m in six inch heels for Christ sake!” I said.

“Sorry.” Victoria laughed.

“If you weren’t my cousin you’d be dead by now and you know it.” We reached the door and Victoria opened it.

“I know you love me.” Vicky smiled. I smirked and pulled her into a hug squeezing a tight as he could.

“You’re right, now I have to go.” I said kissing her cheek.

“I’m going to miss you and your feisty accent!” Victoria called out.

“I’m going to miss you and your love for fries!” I said.

“Shhhh! Mother will hear you!” Victoria scolded.

The car was already waiting for me I stepped down the marble step and waved Victoria goodbye before I opened the door and jumped inside the black town car. As soon as the engine started the house became a blur and Victoria turned into one small dot in the horizon.

I was leaving America in a private plane which was one of the perks of being Cornelia Dagenham. Zayn was a nice guy but he just wasn’t well suited for me. Was I really the kind of girl to just spend a night with someone and not expect any commitment? I guess America changed me after all.
