I laughed loudly as Harry tried to balance the straw between his upper lip and his nose and laughed even louder as Louis flicked the end closest to him and ended up hitting Harry’s eye. The band was a blast and even just spending a few hours with them made me feel welcome, so welcome that my cheeks hurt from all the smiling and the blatant uncontrolled laughter.
It must be awesome for Zayn to work every day with a career he loves with his best friends each job turning into playtime. We were creating chaos in the shop but since all of them were in hoodies and we were in a secluded area we appeared as a normal set of friends just relaxing and hanging around. I looked across the table and met Zayn’s eyes, a slow smile crept across my face and he did the same.
“Are you having fun?” He asked and I nodded slowly. We were seated in a sort of circle with Niall and Liam closest to me, Harry on my far left, Louis on the right and Zayn directly in front of me.
“It’s the most fun and normal thing I’ve done all week.” I smiled shyly.
“Wow, huh? What have you been doing?” Zayn leaned forward with a sort of flirtatious smirk.
I blushed feeling all the eyes on the both of us but I was a little bit unsure if Zayn was actually flirting with me or it was just my stupid imagination working up again. I looked nervously at the band and saw them smiling at me and looking at each other which made me blush even more. I wasn’t used to getting all this attention.
“Ummm.” I mumbled knowing that I was already scarlet red and burning up like lava.
“Guys.” Zayn turned to look at them and they backed down clearly giving me room to breathe.
It was funny actually, they all had different personalities and sometimes they get cute fights but once they knew they were crossing the other’s line they back down. They’re sort of a support group, a family if you call it, and I envy Zayn for having these goofy, awkward, and extremely cute boys with him all the time.
“Sorry, I’m… easily frazzled.” I smiled at them.
“It’s okay you’ll get used to it.” Liam the one with the short crop of hair smiled warmly at me.
“I’m surprised someone as beautiful as you is not used to male attention.” Harry smiled cockily. And thus began the most awkward three seconds of my life… did Harry Styles just hit on me in front of my fiancé?
“Hazza.” Louis groaned.
“Dude.” Niall whispered harshly. Zayn was already shooting dagger looks at a surprised Harry and even though it was clearly unintentional it was cute how Zayn reacted.
“What?” Harry asked looking around.
“Guys, don’t you have a studio to get back to?” Zayn raised his eyebrows at them.
“What about you?” Louis asked.
“I took the day off.” Zayn said smugly and all of them groaned.
“Fine we’ll go.” Louis said.
“Zayn don’t misbehave.” Liam pointed a warning finger at him. After saying their goodbyes and profusely asking for apologies the lads exited the door and Zayn and I were left alone. After almost two weeks we were finally alone.
