CAROLINE

“This one?” Victoria held out a pink lilac dress and showed it to me with a smile. “Or, this one?” She picked up another dress and held it out.

“Vicky, you choose you’re the one who’s going to wear it.” I said.

The organizing stuff was supposed to be the fun part they said. The cakes, the flowers, and the dresses but for me it wasn’t all what it seems to be. Maybe because in all the stories I read or the movies I saw the bride had to argue tooth and nail for her future husband to agree to the roses or the very expensive dress she was going to wear to the wedding.

I wanted someone like that, I wanted someone to come with me to the wedding cake testing and the florist and debate with me about which flavor to choose because god forbid one of his uncles who had a terrible allergy to vanilla grab a slice. But I didn’t have that, in less than two weeks I was going to be Mrs. Malik and I haven’t even seen him since the baby appointment.

“That’s the problem Caroline, I can’t choose!” Victoria groaned. We were in a wedding dress store, I didn’t exactly catch the name since it was French and I sucked at that language but Aunt Sarah recommended it to us she said all her top notch clients swore by the designer.

“Well, I like the pink one better it makes your eyes pop.” I said. Vicky looked at the two dresses and set down the other one.

“Put the other one down, I have a better dress.” Aunt Sarah sauntered into the room holding a very light pink colored silk dress and handed it to Victoria.

“Aunt Sarah! You’re here!” I got up and hugged Aunt Sarah.

“Of course dear, I couldn’t just sit there and make you do all the poor decision making.” She smiled and hugged me back. Victoria headed into the dressing room.

“But-but I thought you were mad at me for you know—“ for the whole teenage pregnancy thing but I didn’t say the last part.

“No, honey. I was and then I realized I was either in or out. I made a vow to your mother you know.” She smiled and sat me down.

“Aunt Sarah, where did you get this dress? It’s absolutely wonderful!” Victoria looked in the mirror as she wore the dress. It was beautiful a strapless dress that accentuated her figure.

“It’s called style honey.” Aunt Sarah purred.

“No, put it back I can’t have you looking like that on my wedding day.” I joked.

“Oh, come on give me a chance to hook up with one of Zayn’s rock star friend maybe even that curly haired one.” Victoria said. Contented with her dress she flopped down beside me and Aunt Sarah on the white vinyl sofa.

“You mean Harry? I haven’t actually met them myself.” I confessed.

“So how are you and Zayn doing?” Aunt Sarah asked.

I shrugged not wanting to answer the question. We weren’t doing well, that was the truth. After the appointment Zayn and I went straight to the prenup meeting he suggested coffee but I turned him down. I didn’t know why I said no after the moment we just had at the doctor’s clinic but I just couldn’t bring myself to open up. There was no one to blame but me.

“Barely hanging on.” Victoria muttered I glared at her and she clamped her mouth shut.

“Vicky.” I sighed shaking my head.
