I held Zayn’s hand as the plane landed on the London airport. The jostle sent me back on my chair and I instinctively put a hand around my belly. The past few days have been amazing but… I was a bit worried by how Zayn was acting. It was as if the sky was about to fall the minute we arrive back home. I looked to my right and saw Zayn with a pinched expression and his eyes closed.

What is the matter with him? I wasn’t going to bolt and run away. It’s not as if he’s going to be away forever, right? I don’t know, it just felt like he was exaggerating things and overreacting so I decided not to put much thought into his gloom and doom aura. The plane landed to a stop and everything went into a standstill.

“Here we are.” Zayn said almost breathlessly. I could see worry on his brown eyes and I reached over to caress his face.

“Hey,” I held his face close to mine. “I’m here. I’m not going to leave.” I said and finally Zayn sighed and relaxed.

“I have to go.” Zayn moaned and I tightened my grip on him. I didn’t want this to end but I couldn’t hold Zayn back. The plane doors opened and wordlessly we got out of the plane. Two black town cars we’re waiting for us at the airport.

“Why do you have to leave so soon?” I asked sadly as the driver hauled our luggage into one of the cars. Zayn stopped and pulled me to his side.

“I don’t want to, but I have to.” He said. He kissed me again deeply and opened the car for me. I sat on the cold leather and stared ahead. Why did goodbye have to be so soon?

“Hey,” He crouched down so that he was at my eye level. For a moment I kept staring anywhere but him trying to be strong. He’ll be home in a couple of hours again, but then what? He’ll be back again at the studio at the crack of dawn and so the cycle continued leaving me with about ten maybe fifteen minutes with him if I was lucky.

“Zayn, you have to go. We’re delaying everything by keeping you here.” I sighed. Why did I ever thought that I could go on without him?

“I’ll be back at home as soon as I finish, I promise.” He kissed my forehead and closed the car door gently. But I wasn’t about to go just yet, so I opened the window and called after him.

“Hey! Hot stuff, I’m calling you in on that promise. We have a house to warm up.” I said with a smile and I heard Zayn’s loud laugh at the same time the engine started and the car began to move.

I sat quietly at the backseat and watched London pass by me and give away to a more suburban community. Zayn will be back home, and I love him. What’s a little sacrifice for the person I love? Everything will be fine although this wasn’t the way I’d like to officially move into the house. I had no choice but to take what I could get. My phone rang and I glanced to see Victoria’s number flashing on the screen.

“Hey, Caroline! How was the honeymoon?” She teased and I rolled my eyes.

“You tell me, you were getting it on with Liam at my wedding.” I chuckled and I could just imagine Victoria reddening up at the mention of her drunk make out session with the one direction band mate. I hope she made good decisions that night.

“Oh, shush. I don’t want to talk about.” She grumbled.

“Remember, that’s how my story started.” I smiled at the memory. And look how that got me, a small voice sounded in my head.

“Yea, yea. Listen I’m on the plane right now on my way back home. I’m really sorry I couldn’t properly say goodbye but dad’s taking me with him.” She said.

“It’s okay Vicky, thanks for everything I couldn’t have done it without you.” I said.

“Bye, champ.” She said through the phone.
