I reach my hand out to shake Dylan's hand and look him in the eye challengingly, daring him to

laugh or mention the embarrassing scene in the basement. He just smirks at me and and withdraws his hand. Jerk. I can feel a blush creep into my cheeks and I take a step away from him. There's an awkward silence in the air but Uncle Sam claps his hands together making me jump slightly.

"Alright everyone lets head out to the patio and dig in."

I trail behind everyone as we head out to the patio willing my cheeks to turn there normal color. Stupid blush. I've always blushed way to easily and then I just turn even redder when people point it out. Since I'm the last one out to the patio I get the last seat which happens to be next to Dylan. Great. Just my luck. I flop into my chair in a very unladylike manner which gets me a weird look from my aunt. I ignore it and start to grab all the food I can get. Then i start shoveling food into my mouth but then I realize I'm the only one eating food and I pause my mouth still full of the hamburger I shoved into it. My uncle clears his throat.

"Ummm, why don't we pray before eating."

This time I turn an even brighter shade of pink than before. My uncle looks amused but everyone else is giving me strange looks. Out of the corner of my eye I can see Dylan trying not to laugh at me and I turn to glare at him. Apparently when your face is bright red and your cheeks are full of food you look slightly funny because Dylan burst out laughing. It was a giant laugh and it made me jump slightly. Of course that made me choke on my food which caused a coughing fit which caused me to spit my food in my napkin. Good gosh what is wrong with me? I think to myself while I'm hacking out my insides. Meanwhile Dylan is still laughing but not quite so loudly. He reaches over and starts patting my back. After a minute I calm down and he removes his arm. Now everyone looks like there trying to decide if they should laugh or stick me in a mental hospital. Just stick me in a mental hospital. At least of I do anything stupid their no one will care.

"I'm okay." I say in a raspy voice. I wave my hand in a carry-on-with-your-lives motion.

"How about we just dive in." My uncle says grinning.

Dylan is till chuckling quietly but I don't turn to glare at him, afraid I'll embarrass myself again, so for the rest of the meal I keep my head down and stay quiet, only speaking when spoken to. After a little bit I feel a nudge on my shoulder. It's Dylan, he gives me an apologetic look and mouths the words I'm sorry. I look at him warily but he looks pretty sincere so I just shrug my shoulders and give him a half-smile. He grins at me. For the first time I really look at him. He's at lest 6 feet tall and is pretty muscular. Okay I lied, very muscular. He's got straight black hair that's a couple inches long and it looks REALLY soft. His teeth are very white, like seriously he was like blinding me when he was grinning. But it's his bright blue eyes that stand out against his tan skin the most. They look like the ocean. Ok I have officially gone into sap mode and I need to snap out of it. I mentally shake myself and focus on Dylan again. He's still looking at me. Say something! My brain screams at me. Like what? I suck at talking to guys. Especially cute ones.

"So how's it going?" I ask him. Not cool. At all. I'm so lame! He smirks at me.

"Good. Don't you think we should head inside? It's kind of late."

I look around and realize its already dusk. When did it get so late? I can see everyone else inside thought the gigantic windows. My uncle waves at us to come in. Dylan gives him a thumbs up and then stands.

"Coming?"

"Yup."

I scramble up out of my chair so fast that it flies backwards and I trip on one of the legs and stumble forwards. Dylan catches my arm before I land flat on my face. I mutter a thanks and straighten up. Dylan is holding back laughter again. I glare at the evil chair.

"Maybe we should pick that up." Dylan says still trying not to laugh. I stomp over to the chair and shove it into the table. Honestly! How many more times can humiliate myself in one day? Obviously way to many times to count.

"Let's just go inside before I embarrass myself even more." I say defeatedly. Dylan grins and walks with me to the house. Dylan's parents are saying there goodbyes to Beth an Sam. I turn to say goodbye to Dylan.

"We'll this has been peachy!" I say in fake excitement. "Please try and convince your parents that I don't always act like I'm in the circus."

He laughs and says, "That might be kind of hard... But I'll give it my best shot."

I fake punch him in the arm. Then I wave goodbye to his parents as they head out the door.

"See ya around Rose." Dylan says. He waves to my parents and Jake then follows his parents out the door. I close it after them and then lean against the wall deciding its best if I just go to sleep right now. What a day.
