Chapter 13

I stare at my father. "No I'm not doing that" I say and he looks a little stressed and then puts his hands on my shoulders and looks me in the eyes.

"You need to do this for our family" he says.

"Am I not doing enough already for our family?" I ask in disbelief "without me you wouldn't even have a chance to get the hotels"

"I know sweetheart but you need to understand our situation" he says quietly.

"No, I don't need to understand anything, I'm not doing that" I say to him and take a step back.

"Kate, you need to understand" he shakes me by my shoulders.

"No I don't and I don't think I want to" I say and I turn to walk away but he pulls me back and slaps me across my face.

I gasp in surprise. "What the hell dad?" Bianca is asking from the water and watching me and my father from the water. "Why did you just hit her?"

I'm holding my cheek and looking at my father in disbelief "no, honey, this isn't what it looks like, we were just arguing" he pleaded with her but Bianca is swimming back to the steps and my father is trying to shout after her.

"No, I haven't heard from him, he's been suspiciously quite" My father says as I told him we saw Ivan at one of the events.

"I have a bad feeling about this" Cole says his arms crossed over his chest.

And I'm about to say something but Bianca rushes up the steps wiping her face and throwing the towel on a sofa and then says without stopping as she passes everyone "dad just hit Kate".

I jump up and hear everyone in chime say "what?" I follow where Bianca is going and so does everyone else.

We walk down to the other side of the boat where no one was and there's Kate staring at her dad in disbelief as Bianca is pulling her away.

"What the hell happened?" I'm asking as I go up to them. Bianca has hugged Kate who seems very shocked. A red splotch across her left cheek.

"Hugh, what did you do?" Rebeca is close behind me questioning her husband.

"She was being disrespectful towards her father" he says and I look at Kate who looks at him in disbelief which tells me all I need to know.

"Bullshit" I say and he looks at me.

"You don't teach me how to raise my daughter" he says with a mad look on his face.

"No, you touch her again, and I'll break your neck" I say with a serious look warning lining my words.

My blood is boiling, if he wasn't her father and there weren't so many people around I'd shoot him right here and right now.

"Don't threaten me" he says.

"That's not a threat, it's a promise" I say and he's about to say something else but Bianca looks at him and says "dad stop".

Rebeca is getting Kate and walking her away with Helen, I hear them say something about putting ice in it.

"Hugh, I think you should leave" my father cuts in "I'll drive the boat to the shore" he says and touches my shoulder as he walks past me and asks for Hugh to come with him.

I watch as both of them walk away and I walk back inside, where the girls are assessing Kate.

"That fucker" Cole says coming up to me. "Is he abusive?"

"She hasn't said anything" I say and feel the need to have a drink or a smoke.

"So what now" Cole asks.
