3 years later
I'm washing up the kitchen after I've made lunch and the TV is playing in the background and then I hear little steps running up to me and clapping me on the leg.
"Mama" Adele is saying and I put down the washcloth and look at her. She's holding a piece of paper in her hands and asking to be picked up.
I pick her up and she gives me her drawing. I look at it "it's very beautiful" I say and the scribbles on the paper and then ask her "do you want to put it on the fridge?" She sakes her head aggressively and we walk over to the fridge I give her a magnet and she places her drawing all he with many others and then I put her back on the ground.
I fix her hair as she's messed it up from running around and jumping on the couch. "I wanna go outside" she says and pulls me by my arm.
I push open the large door to the backyard and she immediately runs to her playground. I sit on the porch and watch her. She's almost 3, I can't believe how much time has passed, it seems like it was just yesterday when I was pregnant with her.
And the backyard it was a huge piece of land but now there's a big garden and a playground for Adele, a poll that's safely secured so no one would fall in it. And at the farthest corner there's a small barn with three of my goats that roam the land freely.
Adele is my happiness, she's the sweetest girl I've ever met, she's so smart and so kind. I look at her everyday and smile. I'm proud of her and of me and Grayson for raising her because at first we didn't know what we were doing. And still sometimes I don't know what I'm doing but as she's gotten older it's gotten easier.
Adele runs up the steps to the porch and sips on her cup of water and then gets in my lap. "Can we go see Charlotte?" She wipes her hair out of her face and looks at me.
"I don't know baby, we have to ask her mom" I say and clip her hair back. Charlotte is Bella's daughter, turns out she was only two months behind me and we needed up having our baby's with only a month between each other so they grew up together. We used to call each other and ask for advice, and whenever we could we visited each other and the girls because close friends. They are cousins after all.
I hear steps inside the house and I say "I think daddy's home" I say and Adele jumps out of my lap and runs inside almost slipping on the floor and I walk behind her.
I step inside the room and look as Adele is running to Grayson and he's picking her up in the air and then hugging her.
"I missed you" he says and fixes her shirt looking at her "what did you do all day?" She wrapped her little hands around his neck and points to the fridge.
"I draw" she says and they both turn to look at our overflowing fridge art. "You did?" He asks and she shakes her head and hugs him tightly again.
I walk over to them and Grayson pulls me to him with his other hand and places a kiss on my lips "hey" he says quietly and I reply with "hi"
"I want to show you something" Adele is saying and kicking out of Graysons arms so he puts her on the ground and she runs to her room.
"I missed you" he says and pulls me in another hug and places several kisses on my lips "how was she today?" He asks. Adele is going through her terrible twos and you never know in what mood she's gonna be in.
"She was good today" I say "we only had two tantrums" I say and with that Adele runs back in the room and we both look at her. Grayson holding me with his one arm behind my back and I've leaned my head on his side.
"Look" she says and jumps and spins around in her purple princes dress she's put on just now.
"Wow, that was amazing" Grayson says and Adele is nibbling in her dress and smiling and doing another jump.
