I open the doors and see Grayson and I immediately jump into his arms and he hugs me so tightly. God I missed this. He's wet from the rain outside but I don't care.
He puts me down back on my feet and he grabs may face into his his hands and looks me in the eyes.
"I love you" he says and I can't help but smile and then he kisses me and when I pull away I say "I love you"
He walks inside the hotel room and I shut the doors behind us. He picks me up and hugs me once again and once again I feel like I've come home.
When he puts me down again I say "you remembered our first day together" I say smiling.
"I remember everything about you" he says.
"Yes?" I say teasingly and pull him into the living room.
"Yes, I know how you don't like oranges but you absolutely love orange juice, and how you're favourite flowers are lilies and when you feel good you like to wear something more revealing and when you don't feel so good you wear something more covering, even though you look absolutely beautiful all the time and I know how the most important thing for you is family and that you're favourite thing to do when you are sad is watch love island with Malika or Bianca" he says and I can't believe he's remembered all of that.
I sit on the couch and cuddle up to him and enjoy his touch and warmth that I've longer for, for so long.
"Why did you stop talking to everybody?" I ask curious.
He doesn't say anything for a while and I sit up to look at him "because the only person I wanted to talk to was you" he says genuinely "and hearing everyone mention your name was honestly painful"
"So you just were in London this whole time?" I ask.
"No, London was my last stop" he says and I furrow my brows and I watch as he gets up and goes over to his coat and reached into the pocket.
He takes out a box and brings it to me. I take it from him and he sits on the couch just where he sat before and I look at him.
"Open it" he says and I look at him hesitantly but then I open it and there lays one single key with multiple keychains and I look up at him confused.
"It's a key to your new home" he says and I look at him even more confused. He sits closer to me and takes the key out of the box.
"It's a house in Italy, with a lot of land and a porch where you can sit outside and watch the morning fog and it's pet friendly" he says and I can't believe this, he's literally remembered everything.
"And each keychain is from a place we visited" he goes to show me the keychains.
He shows me a little liberty statute and says "we had our first kiss in New York" I remember and laugh "I was out of it that time".
He takes the next one and and it's a little hibiscus flower "this is from Hawaii, where we had our second kiss" he says "and that's also probably where we made me pregnant" I say and he laughs.
I look over the rest of the keychains, a little Eiffel Tower and a small Parthenon, a tyrolean hat, a lighthouse and a little red telephone box.
"I called you from a telephone box today" he says as I'm holding the little chain in my hand.
I'm trying so hard not to bawl my eyes out once again and I just hug him holding the key in my hand. "Thank you" I say and pull away from the hug wiping the single tear that slipped out of my eye.
"I'm sorry" he whispers but I can hear it clearly "about everything"
I put the key back in the box and put the box on the coffee table. We cuddle for the entirety of the night until I fall asleep and the next day I wake up and he's not in the bed with me. I walk out into the living room, Grayson's in the kitchen making coffee for both of us and the breakfast is already made and it makes my stomach twist from how good it smells here.
He passes me the cup of coffee and I take a sip. He places a kiss on the top of my head and says "good morning".
"So what are we doing?" I ask and take a bite from the toast.
"What do you want to do?" He asks and I finish my bite and then I say.
"I don't want to tell anyone about the baby yet" I say and he nods.
"I want it to be just the two of us for a while" he says "no one else, so there's no one interrupting us and there isn't any other people's drama"
"I like that idea" I say and twist in the chair to look at him with my cup in my hands.
"I want to see that house in Italy" I say and take a sip of my coffee.
"We can go today" he says and I nod. I do really want to see the house.
"Why in Italy?" I ask curious I know his whole life is in New York.
"Because you love it there" he says and rubs my leg with his hand.
"But your work and family and everyone is in New York" I say and put down my cup.
"But you come first" he says and looks at me away from his plate "I want to be wherever you are, wherever you're happy"
"You're being too sweet" I say and he laughs.
I go back to my food and we don't say anything for a moment and then I ask wondering "you signed the divorce papers"
"I did" he says and looks at me.
"Why?" It's a stupid question to ask because I was the one who wanted a divorce but it had been a week and I was just surprised that he signed them.
"I want to start fresh with you, without other people arranging our life for us" he says and it makes sense.
"I changed my last name back to Matisse" I say hesitantly.
"I know" he says and I furrow my brows but I don't even dare to ask I just say "of course you do" and he laughs.
We finish up breakfast and decide to go back to Italy, I'm eager to see the house and be back home. And this time I'm going with Grayson, he's never been to Italy with me.
Around 2pm we land in Italy and Grayson takes us to the house, it's only a 15 minute outside of town and we get out of the car and I look at the two story house. It has a nice brown wooden roof and the house itself is a light grey colour. It has not too big of a driveway and a two car garage. I walk up to the front door and unlock it with my key.
Grayson opens the doors and I walk inside. It's a large open room that walks straight into the living room witch has floor length windows overlooking the porch and the garden. To the right is a big kitchen with a dining room and to my left there's an office room and a guest bedroom.
I walk up the steps to the second floor and there's another large window overlooking the garden and four rooms. The master bedroom, a small library, another bedroom and a baby's room.
"This is exactly how I envisioned it" I say and look at Grayson who's been following me around from the back.
"I'm glad you like it" he says and pulls me to him once again and I've never been so excited to live, to see where my life will take me.
I walk back downstairs and open the sliding doors to the porch and walk outside. There's a lot of land. I lean over the railing and look at Grayson. "I can already see where we could put a barn" I say teasingly and he laughs.
"I believe you can" he says. When I said that I'd want to have goats in the future I didn't actually fully mean it, I just thought it would be nice to see how it is, but now with all this land and everything I kinda feel like we're missing a couple goats.
I still kept getting amazed by the house as I unpacked my things into the closet and we had our first dinner in our dinning room. And we both decided to keep distance from everybody else for a while. Maybe it was in our favour that they didn't know where we were and wether alone that we were together. It was just the peace we needed for ourself to figure out our relationship and our future.
