I dreamed about the kiss from last night which helped explain why I slept so good. I turned my head to the sleek black earbud case placed on my nightstand that I found in the pocket of the suit jacket last night. By the time I realized it was in my pocket we had arrived home and I was too exhausted to do anything about it then. It couldn't belong to anyone else but Ty.

I had a few hours before work and got off the bed. Axe was already up and at it when I entered the kitchen. Suddenly the conversation Ty and I had in her car the night of Axe's birthday party was ringing in my ear. I was convinced Axe didn't care for a second about who I dated but Ty wasn't.

She wrinkled her forehead at my staring as I sat down on the counter stool opposite her. "Why you staring?" she raised an eyebrow.

"Random question... you don't care who I date right?" I asked carefully.

She shook her head. "Nope. In fact the less I know about your love life, the better," she said.

"And that applies to say for example... your friends?"

She was aggressively shaking her protein shake in its bottle with one hand, scrunching her nose slightly in thought. "Well most of my friends deserve better than you but I guess I wouldn't care in some cases."

I was taken aback a little. "What is that supposed to mean?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

"It means exactly what I said. Look you can dress it up however you want but I know you. You can't commit to save your life and most of my friends want and deserve something you're just not capable of. And that's something you can't change overnight and majority of my friends deserve better than to be an experiment so," she said.

"So who's off limits then?"

She set down her bottle and was thinking about it, although she didn't need to think that much about it. "Definitely Ty. My girl needs to heal first of all, and secondly like I said deserves so much better than you. Then there's Jas and-" she paused, eyeing me with a sudden suspicion. "Why you asking?"

I shrugged, careful not to do it too hastily so the suspicion wouldn't rise even more. "Just that if you wanted to mess with any of my friends I wouldn't care. It's not my business."

She laughed, mockingly almost. "Boy what friends? And don't be lying. You've always been overprotective and would fight any of your friends if they went for me."

Damn right I would. What would any of them find in my little sister that they couldn't find in women their age? Even though she would only be a year younger, two at most. This wasn't a double standard by the way, Ty was my age.

In an attempt to change the subject I looked down at the countertop at the mess she created making her workout beverages and salads and whatnot. "Do you ever rest?" I wondered, genuinely.

"Nope. Can't afford that shit," she said and I chuckled through my nose thinking she was joking before realising she was very much not.

"Don't burn yourself out, Axe. Or worse, letting the internet consume you whole," I told her.

She scoffed. "This coming from Mr. Ain't no rest for the wicked himself?" she went, amused as she raised her eyebrows.

"I'm serious. Don't be like me. Look after yourself."

She laughed humorlessly. "There you go again," she went.

"There I go what? Am I not allowed to care about my sister's wellbeing?"

She packed her things in the duffel bag, rather aggressively while scoffing for a second time but this time more annoyed than amused. "I'm looking after myself just fine. Not a kid anymore. Don't forget who's looking after who here." she finished and slung her bag across her body before leaving, ignoring my calls for her.
