~Twenty-seven~

Nicolo's POV

I pick up my phone to call Zach to come help me with bellissima's surprise. I hope she likes it.

"What" he snaps

Someone obviously woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, if he even is awake.

"Dude, it literally 8:00, what are you doing?"

"I need your help with Bella's surprise."

"Mmmm no"

"Yes or I'll come over there and drag you with me."

"Ugh fine."

I smile in triumph until I hear him speak again

"Why always me? Can't he get someone else? I swear it's like he's trying to torture me."

My grin disappears as I keep quiet, wanting to see where this is headed

"Like he could at least try to ask nicely. 'Hey bro, you mind helping me with Bella's surprise?' 'Of course my man! What are friends for?' 'I don't know what I'd do without you, Zach. You're the bestest friend I've ever had.' 'Aww, thanks Nico. Means a lot to me.' "

I've decided I've had enough

"Zach!" I shout

Silence

Beep beep beep

I bring my phone away from my ear and scoff as I look at it in disbelief

He really hung up on me.

A little after

"So what do you think?" I ask Zach

"Pretty legit surprise." He says. His phone vibrates he walks away to talk to whoever would talk to him willingly.

I breathe out, proud of the surprise.

I walk back to the picnic and blanket and make sure I have my swimming trunks and walk back to find Zach frowning at his phone

"Hey man, what's up?" I throw my arm over his shoulder

"I have to go, sorry Nico." And he walks away

I watch his back as he leaves and then turn back around to take in the beautiful lake Bella and I will be swimming in.

I put my hands in my pockets and walk back to the picnic to call Bella and tell her I'm ready.

Bella's POV

Nick called me a few minutes ago to tell me he was ready for me to see the surprise.

Just when I'm about to see the surprise, Nick comes running at me and covers my eyes with his big hands

"No looksies"

"Okay okay" I say as I cover his hands with mine and let him guide through the forest

He stops me and tells me to keep my eyes closed while he makes sure the first part of the surprise was ready.

As I waited, I used that time to use my listening skills to get some clues about where we are. All I know is that we're near a waterfall.

When he told me to open my eyes, I was not prepared for what I was about to see.

We were standing in front of a giant waterfall where rainbows were present and a huge lake filled with flowers. I stand there until Nick goes behind the waterfall.

I look at him quizzically and he just smiles back

"They say waterfalls always have something behind them don't they? Your first surprise is behind it."
