Chapter 6

It was one month until my 10th birthday.

I was at the pizzeria, like always. This time I was hanging around Mangle. I had my homework sitting on my lap and a pencil in my hand. I had homework that day after school and I had decided to bring it to Freddy's so that I didn't forget it.

I was so lost in my thoughts about what the square root of 64 was, that I rested my elbow near Mangle's jaws. Suddenly, the pink and white fox moved and her jaws brushed against my arm, her sharp teeth grazing my skin. I screamed in fear and leapt backwards straight into someone.

I took a shaky breath and spun around to see I had bumped into a man. I peered up at him, trying to see what he looked like, but his face was hidden in shadows by his hood. My gaze lingered for a second more before the man pushed me away and hurried out of the room. Before he left, however, he turned back to flash me a stare. His glowing eyes bore into mine.

Then he left.
