Sophie POV:
Sophie gathered up the courage, and threw goblin throwing stars at Ruy's opponent in the battle. She quickly reached for shadows and covered herself and Ruy. Ruy looked around, confused. He looked at his right arm, surprised to see it was gone in the shadows. Sophie then grabbed his wrist and dragged him along into the left hallway. Rayni, who was cornered up against the right wall, was battling Blur with two swords in her hands. She tried to flash a ball of light at him, but he easily dodged it and melted into the wall next to her. Sophie quickly grabbed Rayni's wrist while Blur was looking away, distracted by Keefe's cries after his arm got pierced by a goblin throwing star, courtesy of Alvar. His cries for help hurt her heart , but she took Rayni and Ruy's hands and left the room.
"What are you doing, Sophie? We have to help Alvar, Gethen, and Fintan with the Black Swan!" Ruy yelped.
"We're going to Exsulia. Now." She said firmly.
"Sophie, it's not that easy. It's too complicated to get there and we can't do that right now!" Ruy objected.
"No. I'm done with all the mystery and the complications in my life. I AM DONE." She replied . Her voice quavered a little, and she quickly moved on, pulling Rayni and Ruy with her.
"Well, I can't do anything. If anyone, you should be talking to Gethen. But, he's busy fighting." Ruy said in his soothing voice. She started to calm down, and the anger that came washed away. She was surprised that she broke down like that, her fit of anger could have meant she inflicted on Ruy. She shook that thought out of her head, and she felt guilty for not listening to Ruy.
"Gethen is the one who told me where to go to get my memories of Exsulia back," Sophie explained, slightly more patient. "He told me to go to his office," she added, remembering their conversation.
Ruy nodded. "Okay, let's go to his office and look at whatever he wants you to look at," he agreed.
They trudged up the stairs to Gethen's office and found a cache with a note on top of it. The note read:
Sophie, If you're reading this, it means it is finally time for you to get all your memories back. Open the cache, and you will find several tiny, marble-sized spheres wrapped with a silver ring. To unlock each sphere, rub it in your hand while saying the password, which is "phoenix". The memories should go straight to your mind after it unlocks. Please take your time while doing this. This process should not be rushed, otherwise it could damage the memories hidden in the cache, as well as the memories already in your mind. Make sure to have someone you trust by your side to help you stay calm. Good luck Sophie, we're glad to have our Phoenix back.
Gethen
"Okay, I'm ready," Sophie said, worried. She took one of the silver spheres, rubbed it and said "phoenix", the memory then shot straight into her mind, and startled her as the scene started playing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Flashback~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I'm so sorry sir, unfortunately your wife didn't make it in the delivery," The doctor with rich brown skin and jet black hair with ice blue eyes told Gethen.
"What? WHERE'S MY WIFE?!" Gethen broke down emotionally. Alvar, at thirteen years old, held Sophie as she cried while drool was dribbling down her chin. Fintan held her twin brother, whom she didn't know the name of. They were standing outside of the delivery room while tests were being run on Gaia.
"Alvar, Fintan, stay here with Ivan and Sophie, I need to go,"
Gethen ran to the delivery room only to find his wife, Gaia, with rich brown eyes like Sophie and olive skin, limp and pale. She looked peaceful, as if she fulfilled all of her life's wants. She was beautiful.
