Sophie's POV

"And you expect me to just give it to you?" Sophie demanded, scoffing. "I came here yesterday."

"Your aunt is one of the rulers of Exsulia, isn't she?" Mr. Forkle answered.

"That doesn't matter," Sophie said. She poured her anger, confusion, and the desire to punch Mr. Forkle into her core, and inflicted on Mr. Forkle. The edges of her vision were blurred with red. The anger was taking over, and she enveloped Mr. Forkle in it, until she heard a yelp of pain from across the room.

"Sophie!" Ruy cried for help. She turned around to find a deep gash on his side. Her eyes widened and she felt an unbridled rage for whoever did this to her friend.

"Argh! That one got me, Sophie, I need help, please!" Ruy yelled helplessly as he pointed over to Wraith, who was holding a bloody dagger, still held above Ruy, his hand shaking. Sophie ran over to Ruy and used telekinesis to lift Ruy up and out safely. She took energy from her mental reserves, and it felt as if her brain was being stretched like a rubber band. She pushed her hardest and managed to keep her grip on the floor as the impact hit her. Her ears were ringing, and the brain was buzzing, it was as if she didn't use a lot of energy, but rather gained it. She heard a crash. She finally opened her eyes, and saw Wraith lying on the floor, with a few chunks of cement lying across his shoulder. There was a red patch on his temple, and he groaned in pain.

"Forkle! GET HER," Wraith yelled angrily. Sophie's head throbbed like never before, but that wasn't important right now. She ran over to Ruy and shook him till he blearily opened his eyes.

"Ruy! Are you alright? Look at me," She peered at him.

"I'm fine, Let me just get up and I'll be fine," Ruy turned to sit up, and he winced in pain.

"You're not fine. Let's go to the healing center," Sophie tried to help him stand, but he wouldn't budge. Sophie sighed and sat next to him, trying to stop the bleeding with her hands. She looked at her hands, dripping with scarlet red. Tears welled up in her eyes.

"Sophie?" She looked up at Ruy as he said her name.

"I want to tell you something." Ruy's gaze burned into her.

"What is it?" Sophie stared back at him, trying to read the strange expression on his face. He pursed his lips.

"I want to tell you that I like you. I've liked you since forever. I know that Keefe and Fitz like you too, and I understand that you wouldn't like someone like me, but I just wanted you to know," Ruy gushed.

Sophie's cheeks burned. Finally, Ruy had confessed his feelings for her. She smiled.

"What happens next?" She asked softly.

"You'll see. I'll show you," Ruy's azure eyes glittered in the dark.

"How will you?" Sophie teased him. Ruy leaned in closer, and her grin faded.

"Like this," he whispered. Then leaned in even more and pressed his lips to hers. Sophie gasped and closed her eyes. Ruy grinned against her lips. His arms snaked around her waist and pulled her closer. Sophie wound her arms around his neck. After what felt like centuries, they pulled away, staring into each other's eyes.

"Are you lovebirds done?" A voice asked. Sophie and Ruy jumped about a mile away from each other. They turned to find a smirking Rayni, with Fitz struggling in her arms. His face was red and he was glaring daggers at Ruy.

"Yep, they're done," Keefe, who they hadn't seen before, interrupted the uncomfortable silence that followed. Sophie and Ruy were just getting redder by the second.

Ruy's POV:

Things couldn't be more awkward between Ruy and Sophie, after the kiss, nothing would ever be the same. He constantly thought about it, and Rayni wasn't helping the embarrassment either. Mr. Forkle was exiled, but something he said as the council took him away bothered Ruy.

"Hm. You may think you have won, but I'm warning you, you better watch your backs, especially after this!" Forkle's words haunted him, and he kept having nightmares. He looked around at Sophie, who was lying in bed, occasionally tugging on her her eyelashes, and Rayni, who was bedazzling her clothes that were given to her by Alora. His thoughts were interrupted when Alora called everyone for dinner, he left their room with the others. Ruy was still getting used to Exsulian food. It looked bland, and disgusting, but tastes amazing. Dinner was some beige mush, Sophie had made a comment about how it looked like some human food called... oatmole? No... it wasn't oatmole, it was something like, ealmoat, no... Wait, I got it, it was oatmeal! He took one bite, and his eyes widened, it tasted like custard bursts! It may have looked rancid, but it tasted like one of his favorite elvin treats.

Dinner was quiet except for Ivan trying to convince Sawyer to go to a party, to which Sawyer said he would rather die. He and Sophie really were identical twins. Then, out of nowhere, just when Ruy thought things couldn't be weirder between him and Sophie, this happened.

Rayni interrupted the silence, smirked and decided to torture him. "Hey! Are you guys like, a thing now? You guys were kissing for an awfully long time... You didn't come up to breathe once! Ruy, you said you could only hold your breath for 30 seconds, not 30 minutes!"

"Rayni. I am this close to strangling you, and shoving you in the closet," He threatened as he pinched his fingers together, showing less than half a millimeter of space between them. Sophie just looked like she wanted to dig a hole and bury herself in it.

"Ummm... Okay, but you still haven't answered my question!" Rayni pestered. "Answer it, and then I'll stop bothering you about it," she bargained. "So, yes, or no?" Rayni questioned.

"Yes!" Ruy said immediately.

"We don't know!" Sophie said at the same time.

"Uhhh... awkward...." Ivan said during the awkward silence that followed. Alora quickly shoved food down his throat to stop Ivan from talking.

"Sophie, can I talk to you? Alone." Ruy asked, blushing.

"Sure," Sophie said quietly. They walked into their room, and closed the door.

"We need to talk," Ruy said once the door was closed.

Just then, Fitz came out of the shadows. "Yes, we do," he agreed.
