Ivan POV:
Ivan led Sawyer to his room, giving him space to cool off on his own. As he walked into his own room he thought, That girl, what was her name, Sofia? She needs to prove she's not a part of the Black Swan even though she looks exactly as Mom described Sawyer's sister. And even if she is his sister, she could still have been swayed by the Black Swan. Well, we can do that after we eat. Man, I'm hungry! Mom said she was making Blitzberry muffins for dessert today! Ivan's thoughts were interrupted as Sophie entered the room.
"Oh! Sorry, I guess my room is the second room to the left, not the right," She apologized. "Also, I have a question, what's up with the whole Aly-Aunt thing that Sawyer said" Sophie asked, trying to break the silence.
"Oh! That's just a nickname that Sawyer made when he was two, he couldn't say 'Aunt Alora' so he just said 'Aly-Aunt' and it stuck," he explained. Sophie giggled, and Sawyer walked into the room, glaring at Ivan.
"You know I'm right next door, right? The walls aren't soundproof," he told him. He turned to Sophie.
"Did you know Ivan needs his mom to read him a story every night?" He grinned evilly, and Ivan flashed him a smile that clearly said, Oh, it's on. Sophie's giggles turned into full on laughs.
Rayni came into the room, followed by Ruy.
"Yeah, I want in on this. Did you know Ruy has a crush on Sophie? " She told them, flashing a grin at Ruy and Sophie, who were as red as tomatoes, with Sophie looking like she wanted to jump out the window and run far, far away, and Ruy looking like he wanted to kill Rayni.
"WHAT?! THAT'S THE BIGGEST LIE I'VE EVER HEARD, DON'T BELIEVE HE-MHPHS!" Ruy snapped at her in panic as Rayni covered his mouth to stop his protests, while Sophie shook her head vigorously.
"No way, Rayni stop trying to distract us from noticing you like Alvar,'' Sophie shot back, swiftly changing the subject. Rayni scowled.
"Wow, there's a lot of drama between you guys," Sawyer commented, and Ivan nodded in agreement.
"Well, since Rayni completely ruined this game for us, we're going to go to our room," Sophie interrupted whatever Rayni was going to say next. Ruy still looked embarrassed, given his cheeks were still bright, firetruck red, and the fact that he refused to look Sophie in the eyes, even though she still seemed to think Rayni was joking. Ivan wasn't the most observant at times, but even he could see that the poor guy had clearly liked her for a while but couldn't gather up the guts to tell her yet. They exited the room and went to their room. If they're going to live with us, at least they're entertaining. Ivan thought, amused.
Sophie POV:
Sophie walked into her room, and a wave of emotions flooded her. It looked exactly like the room Black Swan gave her in Alluveture. Sophie felt a pang in her heart at the familiar memories that reminded her of Calla. Like another mother to her, Calla took care of her, and loved her like she was her own child. Sophie stopped thinking about the sweet, brave gnome as soon as she realized tears were forming in her eyes and her vision was blurred. The walls of the room were painted in a soft cream color. There was a dark, rich wooden floor, with a white, fluffy chair, three twin beds, and a beautiful chandelier. While the apartment looked tiny from the outside, the rooms, each with a reasonably large size. It felt like home. Ruy instantly flopped onto the closest bed and fell into a deep sleep. Rayni followed with a soft thud as she jumped on the middle bed.
"How do you go so long without sleep?" Rayni groaned dramatically. Sophie shook her head at her friend's antics.
"When I was with the Black Swan, I went days without eating or sleeping, and my friends and I just hung out," She informed her, going into the closet to change into her pajamas. When she came back out, Rayni was snoring gently. Sophie climbed onto the third bed, and rested her head on the pillow. But sleep didn't find her for a long time, and when it did, all she got were more nightmares about Mr. Forkle and her friends riding on Silveny, all of them singing the swan song:
"Sing swan, spring swan, then let's fly, follow the pretty bird across the sky, Call swan, fall swan, then let's rest, tucked in the branches of your quiet nest," their voices rang in her head. The song kept repeating and repeating, until she finally woke up to a strange feeling of relief. Relief that lasted until she noticed a face staring down at her.
