A/N: For plot reasons I can't do a Lizzie POV, so here's a Gem one to make up for it! (Gem of Dawn, not Gem of the Crystal Cliffs btw)

    This meeting was going horribly.

Gem had already had a horrible night. Someone had blown up several building and started a fire that had destroyed most of the lower town. She had been up from two in the morning helping to put the fire out and find places for the now-homeless people to live.

She had come to the meeting hoping to find a solution, or at least some help, and now there was a demon, which, now that Gem thought about it, was probably the person who had burned down half of Dusk. A/N: Dusk is the capital of Dawn in this AU

The other emperors had stopped panicking when Scott had yelled, "No, wait- He's friendly!". The demon, who had been introduced as Xornoth, was standing next to Scott, looking extremely uncomfortable as several people began to argue about whether or not he should be locked up for his past crimes.

"He destroyed the world! The freaking Rapture happened because of him! And we just want to let him go free?" Mythland Sausage demanded. He was very much on the side of kill the demon immediately. Gem wondered why he hated Xornoth so much.

The demon probably killed someone he cared about or something, Gem thought. "That was while he was under Exor's control! It wasn't really him!" The elf Scott argued back. Gem could understand why he would want Xornoth to be safe. They were brothers, after all.

"Wait, if he's uncorrupted, and he was with you all night, then who attacked us last night?" Goblin FWhip asked suddenly.

"You were attacked too?" Gem said, joining the conversation. "Half of Dusk was burned to the ground last night."

Joel added, his arm in a sling, "Me and Joey got attacked last night, too. Whoever it was broke Joey's wing and pushed him off the balcony, and stabbed me in the arm."

Sausage also said, "They stabbed FWhip and pushed him out of a window."

Xornoth looked substantially more freaked out with every addition to the list of attacks. "I did none of those, I swear!" He said. "I know who did, though."

And just like that, all of the attention was back on Xornoth, which he definitely did not like, since he began fidgeting even more, swinging back and forth on his heels.

"Explain." Gem's past self said, voice brooking no argument.

Xornoth somehow got even more scared, but he started talking. "When you guys came here to the future, it changed some stuff. Until then, I was still corrupted, even in the crystal. But since being in the crystal technically counted as death, I had a reincarnation too. Exor abandoned me in the crystal since I was useless to him, and went to possess the person. That's who's been destroying stuff."

He looked around the room, eyes landing on Lizzie, for some reason. "Their name is Raz."

"... Why are you staring at Lizzie like that?" Joel asked, sounding odd. Lizzie looked down for a second, and when she looked up again, her eyes were red, and she was grinning ferally.

"Because I am Raz," she-no, they- announced to the room. "Your Lizzie is gone. I am all that remains." They looked straight at Gem, and she felt a shiver go down her spine at the pure evil in their expression. "Prepare to burn."

And with that, they vanished. Taking Lizzie with them. Or what was left of her.

The shocked silence in the room was horrible. Gem wished someone would say something to break it, and at the same time she never wanted to hear anything ever again.

    "Shit."

Gem looked at Xornoth, who was looking at the spot where Lizzie used to be standing with absolute horror on his face. Everyone else around the room had a similar mix of shock, horror, and anger, with the exception of Joel, who looked... heartbroken? Devastated? Something really sad, for sure.

"Okay, everyone. I know this is horrible, but we have to focus. The sooner we can get rid of the new demon, the faster we can get Lizzie back." Joel said, sounding remarkably close to tears. Gem hadn't realized they were close.

Nods came from around the room, along with a few sniffles, and they began to brainstorm ideas, using Xornoth as an information bank since he kind of knew the way Exor worked, from having them inside his head for 1,000 years.

No matter how much they thought, or looked for loopholes, or ways to save Lizzie and stop the demon, they couldn't find any. The spell Wizard Gem had used to cure Mythland Sausage wouldn't work here because she had drawn on the natural magic energy of the Crystal Cliffs to do the spell, and she couldn't replicate it without that. They couldn't destroy the demon without killing Lizzie, and there was no way anyone would let that happen.

Eventually the sun began to set, and most of the emperors left for their empires, with the exception of the few whose empires were too far. They stayed in a small side building made specifically for that purpose.

Gem left Treaty Point alone, and headed for the tram terminal. She had been the only ruler to not get a past emperor since there were 11 of them and 12 present rulers.

The tram didn't take too long, and Gem arrived in Dusk just as the sun began to kiss the horizon. She had a ton of things she needed to do, but the first thing Gem planned to do was sleep. She had been awake for almost 18 hours now, and human bodies needed sleep.

Gem knew she would be better suited to helping everyone once she had gotten some rest.

Walking into her house, Gem barely made it up the stairs and into her loft bed before collapsing and passing out. The darkness felt comforting and welcome, and she happily let sleep take her.
