As the minecart rolled towards the end of the tram rail, it slowed and came to a stop for just enough time to let Lizzie climb out before rolling on through a trapdoor in the wall. Queen Lizzie did the same, and they both walked out into the sunshine, where a number of other rulers and their identical counterparts were walking up to the building that was the centerpiece of Treaty Point.
Great Witch Shelby and what was probably her copy came over to walk besides the pair of Lizzies'. Together they walked up the hill and past the gates into the inner courtyard of Treaty Point.
"Hi, Lizzie!" The copy of Shelby said cheerfully. Queen Lizzie nodded down at the child, acknowledging her greeting. "How come your copy is so young, Shelby?" Lizzie asked.
The child laughed, and said, "I'm not young, I'm just really short! Gnomes are naturally small because we're very plantlike. My name's Shrub, by the way."
Lizzie nodded to show her understanding, and said, "Apologies, then." Shrub smiled and waved the apology away, and they continued walking. As they walked, Lizzie took the time to appraise the differences between Shelby and Shrub.
Shelby was 5'6, while Shrub was 4'3. Both Shelby and Shrub had dark brown hair and yellow-gold eyes, although Shrub had a small scar on her cheek that Shelby didn't. Shelby's witch hat made her look much taller due to it's size, while Shrubs mushroom hat just made her look more cute.
I wonder why they have different names while everyone else's copies seem to be named the same? Lizzie wondered. I guess I can ask later, since we're at the building now.
Entering the main building, Lizzie stopped to take a look around since it had been renovated recently. The walls of the massive open room were made of quartz, and great arched doorways were spread at intervals. The wooden flooring was made of spruce, and there was red carpeting around the entire area. In the center, there was a circle made up of 12 chairs, for 12 rulers. Directly in front of the chairs was a pit of sorts with a podium in the middle.
Everyone filed in and stood by their chairs, but didn't sit. Scott of Chromia leaned against his chair casually, Shrub stood on the chair so that she was eye level with the other rulers, and Goblin FWhip did the same since he was short as well, being a goblin and all. Lizzie noticed Sausage of Sanctuary glance at FWhip with a blush, before looking away again.
Pix, the archeologist from the Ancient Capital, climbed down into the minipit and then went up onto the podium. His copy, a man wearing sandy robes and a large amount of copper jewelry, remained standing Pix's chair.
"Hello, everyone. As you all know by now, we are gathered here today because all of us, excluding Oli, have found a near-identical copy of ourselves in our empires. I will start by asking everyone attending if you have any clue or idea as to how and why this happened." Pix said formally.
Scott of Chromia stepped forward, and everyone looked at him. "Well, I was heading to my nether portal to go to Stratos since I heard some thunder and wanted to investigate, and I found him," Scott gestured to his counterpart, a man with stag horns, elven ears, and cyan hair, "bleeding out on the stairs. Naturally, I abandoned my plans and took him to my house, where I treated the injury, and then we had a nice chat where he almost froze Chromia solid by accident."
Lizzie saw the other Scott wince at that, before a woman standing by Gem's chair, presumably Gem's copy, stepped forward. Gem's copy had the same hair and eyes as Gem, just like everyone else, and she was wearing a green dress with a purple cloak draped over her shoulder, and a big purple wizard hat on her head.
"You lost control of your powers, Scott?" She asked with concern. Both Scotts nodded, and the one with stag horns said, "I learned something, and it kind of freaked me out a bit." Chromia Scott muttered something under his breath, but Lizzie was too far away to hear what he said.
Pix focused on the second Scott, and asked, "What did you learn?" Stag Horn Scott stepped forward to stand by Chromia Scott, and began to speak.
"I don't know how to say this." He began. "I don't know how we got here or why, but I do know where we are."
"What do you mean?" The woman standing next to Katherine asked. She had black hair and grey eyes, and was wearing a dress that had a white top with off the shoulder sleeves, and a flowery purple skirt. As she spoke, a pair of fairy wings fluttered up and around her shoulders, as if to show her agitation.
Stag Horn Scott looked around at everyone, took a deep breath, and said, "We're 1,000 years into the future. Our empires no longer exist, and I'm pretty sure the rest of you are our reincarnations."
There was silence for a few moments as everyone absorbed that bit of information.
Then the room erupted into pandemonium.
