8 Months Later
Caroline stood in the office waiting. It's been 8 months since Caroline last seen Klaus and she felt good. She was still hurt by what had happened and Klaus usually called every other week but she would just ignore him. Caroline just finished college about 5 months ago and she was ready to start her life. She planned on moving to Chicago and starting a family. Caroline knew she couldn't have kids and she wasn't in the mood to marry nor even date anyone. But she knew she wanted a child.
"Caroline Forbes?" She heard a lady call from the front desk. Caroline stood up from the chair and walked forward. "Mr. Bander would like to see you now." Caroline nodded her head and walked to the back room to see Mr. Bander. She knocked on the door and she heard a loud, "Come in." She opened the door to see an middle aged man. She sat down in the chair that was in front of his desk. "Miss. Forbes, I see here that you want to adopt a child. Caroline nodded her head yes and he continued. "First you're going to have to fill these forms out, once you are finished with these and send them in someone will contact you to set up an appointment." Caroline nodded her head once again and stood up to leave.
"Thank you." She as she walked out of the office.
Klaus grabbed his glass of beer that was next to him. He took a drink and watched as Elijah entered the room.
"You know Niklaus, this isn't going to solve anything. You need to get out more and be here for your daughter." Klaus rolled his eyes and threw his glass at the wall.
"I ruined everything for myself. I let the woman I love leave and now I have nothing." He spat. Elijah grew angry but kept calm.
"You have a family that cares about you, you have Hope and she needs you now." Elijah told her and Klaus knew he was right. Klaus shook his head thinking about how stupid he was for thinking he had nothing. He had Hope and that's all he needed.
"You're right brother. I do have people that care about me and in am truly sorry." Elijah accepted Klaus' apology. "I need to make a quick call first." Elijah nodded his head and exited the room. Klaus opened up his phone and dialed Caroline's number. This was it. He told himself that this was going to be his last time trying to call her and if she didn't answer he would leave her alone forever. It rang about three times until he heard someone actually pick up.
"Klaus." He heard her say on the other end. His body froze and he couldn't bring himself to say anything. He didn't expect her to actually pick up the phone. "Hello?" She said and Klaus was finally able to say something.
"Caroline, I just want to say that-"
"I forgive you Klaus." She said through the phone. Klaus took a deep breath. it was actually shock.
"You do?" He asked her. She laughed on the other end and smiled.
"I do."
"Well can we talk?" He asked her, his heart was pounding through his chest hoping that she would say yes.
"I'm moving to Chicago next week so I'll text you the details of when it's a good time." She stated and hung up the phone. Klaus smiled to himself and thought that maybe, just maybe, Caroline would want him again.
