Deception [ k.c ]

19.

Klaus saw the apartment building in front of him and he knew Caroline was in there. He just didn't know how he felt about it. He walked up to the building and walked inside to see a man standing at the front desk.

"Hello sir," the man said tipping his hat to Klaus. "What can I do for you today?" Klaus looked at the man and smiled.

"I'm here to visit my friend Caroline Forbes." The man gave Klaus a wary look. The man typed in a number into the phone next to him and Klaus listened in.

"Miss. Forbes, we have a young man here wanting to see you."

"Send him up please." The man hung up the phone and signalled for Klaus to go upstairs. He did and followed the doors down the hall until he reached room B46 he knocked quickly and he heard someone walking towards the door.

There she was, Caroline. Klaus' heart began racing when he saw her in front of him. He saw the girl he loved with all his heart. Caroline gave a small smile and then invited him inside. He walked in and was very surprised when he saw a baby sleeping in a car seat.

"Oh um, this is my son Maxwell." She told him and he gave her a confused look.

"Did you adopt?" He asked her and she nodded her head.

"Yeah, I was moving here and I really wanted to start my life over. I wanted a family and I had no one. I went to the adopting agency thinking I wanted a baby but I wasn't sure. Then I got a call right before I moved here and they told me there was this baby that really needed a family and I took him in. It was so weird when I saw him I actually felt as if he was mine and I instantly loved him." She told him and he agreed. He loved his daughter Hope more than anything and he wouldn't give her up for the world. He smiled at the thought of how good of a mother Caroline was going to be.

Caroline walked over to Maxwell and picked him up from the car seat. She kissed his forehead before asking Klaus if he wanted to hold him. Klaus said yes and Caroline handed him to him. Klaus smiled at the baby and he slowly opened his eyes revealing dark brown ones. Klaus admired the baby and soon handed him back to Caroline.

"Anyways I just wanted to talk to you, a lot of things happened and honestly Caroline, I miss you more than anything. I am so sorry for kissing Cami that day, it was a mistake and I just... I love you okay?" Caroline slowly put Maxwell back in his car seat and she stopped when she heard Klaus say he loved her. She felt tears come along but she pushed them away. She knew what she had to do to move pass all of this.

"I will always love you Klaus. But this isn't going to work okay? I have a son now and I need to focus on him and you should focus on your daughter. Maybe one day in the future we will meet again and we could start over. Or maybe you'll find someone new and you'll move on from me. I'm sorry but you should really go."

"Caroline-"

"Please go." She asked him with a tear slipping down her face. He respected her decision and left. Leaving Caroline behind forever.

a/n: okay guys I only have one more chapter left and then the story is over. It's bitter sweet and I'm so happy for how big it got. Literally thank you all so much for everything that you guys did for that story. I love you all!
