( His Only Mistake )

Chapter Thirty - his decision.

I sat behind the tent for one of the games. I could only imagine what I look like. Tears were still running down my cheek. My right arm had a cut on my elbow. I simply put my knees up and hug them tight. Inside I just wanted to go home.I suddenly looked up as I heard people gasp. My eyes followed where the crowd was looking. Carter stood still with his hands in his pocket, his tie Loose around his neck. He Clenched his jaw and his eyes were fixed on someone. There were multiple whispers coming from the crowd.

"Please don't do this,"I heard a familiar voice scream out.

Suddenly I saw Jake come through the crowd. His jaw was clenched and his hands were curled into a fist by his side. Jake looked furious. I jumped to my feet and tried to get to him. I was stuck behind a group of people. All the whispers and laughs stopped.

"You really have some balls to show your face back here," Said Jake. He was face to face with Carter. His jaw still clenched carter stood there. He looked away for a second then back at Jake.

"I just wanted to see her."

"You don't need to see her. You belong in jail. You think this shit is some game. You almost kill people then Pop the fuck back up in they life moments after?" Said Jake.

Carters eyes flash a wave of hurt. I could not help but remember the way his voice sounded on the phone. How he cried and tried to run because he lost his mother and killed his father.

"Yo man get out my face. I don't want to speak to you. I'm here for her I need her," Suddenly carter pushed Jake out his way. Before I could just stand there and allow anything else I pushed past. People glared at me as I walked past.

"How about you remove the stick up your ass and stop being so damn nosey." I said to the people behind me. Jake was just about to swing at carter but I slipped in front of them. As I grabbed Jakes arms, I tried to get him to look at me.

"Alright get your asses out of here" said Melody.

The crowd was gone and I was still focused on Jake. "Hey, look at me," I said placing my hand on his cheek. He was so upset and looking at carter. To make things worse I'm so damn short.
"Babe, please look at me," he took a glance at my face. He took a deep breath and closes his eyes as he grabbed my waist.

"I'm okay," I said as we rocked side to side.

"I don't want to lose you," he said looking into my eyes.

"You won't."

I turned around to look at carter. Jake pressed me against his chest with his hands still rapped around my waist. The cops were walking up behind him. I slowly looked at Melody and she went to them to give me time.

"You don't deserve what happen that day. I know your better than that. I just can't no more. I was there for you when you needed me and you did the same. Carter what I'm trying to say is I just can't forget what you did to to me-"

"Tori," said Carter as he took one had out his pocket and ran it through his hair. "I'm not asking you to forgive me. I don't deserve that. I did some stupid shit in my life. Trust me I learned. One thing I can say is I never wanted one of those stupid things is to hurt the one person I had left to call family. I not going to stand here and make up excuses to why I did what I did that day to you. It does not change the fact that it was wrong." Said Carter as he moved closer to me.

Jake's grip around my waist got tighter. I slowly took his hands off from around me and walked to Carter. I took his hand in mines.

" I just want you to know I love you Tori. I honestly do and you are what's left for me to actually call family. I screwed it all up but I'm not going to continue to live this lie. I decided to call the cops after you ran off and turn myself in for the murder of my father and attacking you. Before You go I want you to promise me-," Carter paused and raised my chin. My eyes were closed tightly because I was fighting back the tears. I knew this was goodbye and I hate goodbyes.
