Their heads turned to see Jass, who stared at them like a hawk. Rihaan was up and at his desk in a trice.
"Are you prepared for the presentation?" Jass asked in her almost manly voice trying to be as genteel as she could manage, but it still couldn't veil her black-heart.
"Yes." Sammy kept a blank face.
Clearly, Jass seemed staggered than ever. Everything she did to Sammy had blown up in her face but surprisingly, it didn't make Sammy happy at all; instead, she pitied Jass. What's wrong with me? One thing was clear though, Jass had no idea how Sammy's presentation by-passed her and went straight to a client. Jass went back to her desk taking along her Karma and a minute later Sammy got a text from Kunal, asking her to be in the same meeting room at eleven.
Two hours later, she started for the same meeting room on the top floor. There, she was greeted by a seemingly polite English receptionist. The last time she had been there was late in the night, the desk was empty maybe because, he had already left for home.
The man in front of her, no matter how she saw, looked nothing less than charming. His golden-brown hair parted on one side, eyes- deep blue with a hint of yellow resembled the Pacific Ocean and the black suite suited him well. He wasn't muscular but had broad shoulders that made him look... fanciable. It made Sammy wonder if everyone on top floor looked celestial and before her mind could go on an altogether different tangent, she stopped it saying, "Morning. I am Samaira Khanna. I am here for a presentation."
"Morning Miss Khanna" greeted the handsome receptionist- Richard, in his English accent. "I have been asked to send you to MR6".
Thanking him, she went to the meeting room. Kunal was already in, setting up his laptop.
"Hi" she greeted in a low voice, so as to not startle him, but that didn't help much. Jumping to his feet, he screeched, "God... You scared me". True, but what stunned him more were the perfect curves of her body that her formal skirt highlighted. She looked sooo damn hot and ... sexy. Slugging down his manly desires, he formed the words in his then desert-like throat, "Set up your things fast. Mr. Jones could be in any minute" That was all she needed to trigger her pre-presentation jim-jams.
"Oh no!!" She began connecting her laptop to the projector with trembling hands when suddenly, something warm enveloped her. Kunal had clasped her wrist in his large hand and turning her around to face him, he said, "Your hands are cold."
"Maybe because, I am a bit nervous?" Her voice was shaky.
"Samaira, I believe in your idea that's why I decided to support you. We are in this together. Can you trust me when I say, I have got your back?" He asked, observing her.
"Of course, I do. But..." Attempting to search for the right words, when she looked at the carpeted floor, his firm and captivating voice said, "Look at me" and she couldn't help but look into his bewitching eyes. "Now listen carefully. Mr. Jones is good old friend of mine and I literally mean it. He is good, old and wise. I have already briefed him on the general idea of the project, and that it's your first presentation. So just explain the way you explained to me. Okay?"
"Got it..."
"What?"
"I need to relax. Mr Jones is an old friend of mine. He is good and old...." she babbled, and he coughed up his giggles.
"Yes... That's what I meant. I guess?" Silly Spy. With a smirk, he released her hand.
As they continued setting up things, Mr. Jones walked into the room with the most genuine smile lit up on his wrinkled face. Sammy stood up from her chair to greet, while Kunal walked to the door to welcome him. Mr. Jones looked at her curiously as they shook hands and asked, "And this young lady must be... Ms. Khanna?"
