Sammy told him with a slight hint of concern.
"I know." He said plainly. He knows? Sammy was surprised, but before she could ask how, he planted a pair of coal black shades on her eyes and then his.
"Are you serious?" She gritted through her teeth. Kunal nodded "Very", then took her hand and guided her towards the Mandap for the rituals. Panditji's head turned when they reached him and Sammy's eyes popped out her head; Panditji wore shades too. Sammy's head snapped at Kunal, then Panditji and then at the others. Everyone wore different shades; blue, black, green and yellow. A giggle skipped her mouth. Now that everyone looked equally weird, she didn't feel out of place. Kunal felt relieved, watching his beloved smile.
When he lifted Sammy in his arms during Pheras, everyone applauded and Kabeer whistled; whereas, Sammy drowned in his embrace. Kunal's eyes showcased rainbow of emotions when they walked the last round; Sammy was now officially his.
Mine
Sammy felt his emotions too and a single tear of joy escaped her eye, as a smile grew her lips.
Mine
The wedding night rolled by uneventfully. So as to not exhaust Sammy's weak body, with only a passionate, longer-than-normal kiss and a promise to go for a honeymoon once their Lil One was delivered safely to the world, they went to bed cuddling the other. Her family was back to India and they were back to Kunal's. Life was back to normal; meetings, presentation, planning and research.
Being a part of R&D suited her the best. Kunal realised how necessary it was to encourage new ideas and technology in the firm. The R&D team came up the idea to roll out a contest for an upcoming project where the unique concept wins.
Seven months later....
"I want Rasagulla... Right. Now." Standing next to Kunal on his side of bed, Sammy was throwing a fit in the middle of the night. She had been craving for sweets since a week now, and her demands had no bounds. How was he supposed to find a Bengali sweet in London at midnight? Only if he had Aladdin's magical lamp...
"Baby... Just wait for few more hours. I promise to get it the first thing in the morning." Still half asleep, his voice sounded a bit rusted.
"No... I can't wait till morning. Get up and get it now." Sammy was restless and cranky. If she couldn't eat what she craved, she wouldn't sleep. Kunal sighed as he pushed the covers aside. Though sleep deprived, he sauntered out the room and drove off to the only shop he knew of that sold Rasagulla. He had made friends with the owner, which made it easy to ask for favours in times of need.
With each passing day, grew Sammy's hunger along with her tummy and mood swings. Kunal's joy knew no bounds from the time, he had learnt of their pregnancy. He felt blessed and loved to watch how each day brought a change in her and even him. He was glued to her throughout. When he caressed her tummy conversing with the baby, the baby kicked some times and tears of joy and fulfilment, danced his eyes. When her old clothes didn't fit her any longer, Kunal called for a change in her wardrobe. She was due in a week; had put on weight, which made her look cuter kind of chubby. Each new day got them close to their due day, making Kunal hell nervous and that called for Momiji and Papaji to help them during birthing.
"Are you sure you don't want me to come?" Momiji asked Sammy. Kunal was out of town for a day, so they had all gathered at Kabeer's for lunch and he was to drive her to the hospital for her last check-up.
"I'll be fine, don't worry." She told her and they left for the hospital. Thirty minutes' drive and Kabeer pulled into the ground level parking from across the hospital. Helping Sammy out of the car, they walked out the parking. "I forgot my file in the car" Sammy said, unsure "... I think"
