*Skipping a month because I was boring people to death*
"You excited?" Shai jumps up and down in the car.
I've been living with Shai for over a month. My parents want to fight for custody of me, and I feel loved. I'm sitting next to Shai in the car, and we're on our way to court. My Foster parents have already replaced me, they are adopting a new kid, who's parents died in a car crash. My Foster parents gave up on me, and realized that it was okay for me to want to be with my real family.
"Yeah, nervous too," I tell her.
"I am too," She tells me, looking out the window.
I look out my window, and wonder how my foster family could give me up so easily. Sure, I'm happy to be with my biological family, but I was raised by them. I feel like they would still want me, but apparently not. I understand that they might just want me to be happy, but what about them?
I snap to attention when the car comes to a stop. We're at the court house, and it's time for the custody case. I know that my parents are going to win, but I feel a little sorry for my foster parents. They got a new girl, sure, but what about all the toddler years they've lost? All the years, that they got my love? I wonder if they think the same.
I step out of the car, and it's hotter than ever. The sun is beating down on me as if this is a bad idea. I look to Shai, who probably feels the same thing. I walk along side her, and walk. We step into the cold court room, and I take a deep breath.
"...Shay Anne Westerman, is ruled by the state court, to be in full custody of Roy and Ricky Westerman'," The Judge rules.
I feel like jumping up and hugging them, but I can't. I know it would look rude. I say my goodbyes to my old foster parents, and head out the door of the court, hand in hand with Shai. A smile of glee floods into my face. Can life get any better? I think to myself. I sit in the back of the mini-van, Shai next to me. I look out my window, and put in my ear buds. I slowly drift to sleep.
"Shay, get up, we're home," Shai shakes me awake.
"Okay, okay, I'm up," I tell her, stretching.
"Okay, then come on. We have so much to do!" Shai says, unlocking my seat belt.
I get up, and walk inside with Shai. We go straight to our room, waving to our parents. I'm finally a part of my family. I go down to my room, and there is a huge surprise. There is a banner, saying "Welcome to the home, Shay!" and I jump up and down. I love it, and run inside our room.
"I hope you like it!" Shay exclaims.
"Like it? I love it!" I exclaim.
Maybe life really can rock!
