"Hmph! Hmph! "
Ew, who's whining?
Oh, no wonder. It's me.
Lin Xingren sighed and sat down next to the little girl on the grass of the elementary school field. The sun was blazing, but the little girl, her buddy, Liu Gujing, and others of their friend group, were yet at the age of caring about UV rays.
It was lunch break. They had just played a few games of tag and "infection" and were deciding on what to play next.
"Stop kicking Li, whiny," one of the friends called on the little girl.
"Ouch!"
The little girl kicked her instead.
I wish I could kick you.
Lin Xingren tried, but the little girl didn't budge.
"Hmph! Why can't I be in the same class as you guys? This is so unfair! This is torture! I can't get along with anyone, " the little girl squealed in a high pitch voice.
Liu Gujing, who was fidgeting with the dark plastic in the fake grass across from her, twitched a brow.
"Hey!" the little girl caught her disdainful expression and rose up, "it's not like it's my fault I didn't get in your class! You guys don't understand at all. I-I-"
"Xingren, Xingren, calm down, " the buddy ushered the little girl to withdraw the smoking fire within her.
"We know it's not your fault, Xingren. Listen, it's not a big deal. We can still play together like this, nothing's changed. And the people I know in class B are also very nice. "
The little girl pouted her lower lip and finally sat down again. The buddy moved closer to her and slowly patted her back, as if she were putting a baby to sleep.
Lin Xingren felt her back shiver and itch.
She did that because she knew me.
But she didn't know that a time bomb cannot be stopped unless turned off or destroyed.
The girls decided on playing the old duck duck goose, and the little girl, like always, cheered and laughed the hardest.
---
The alarm went off and Lin Xingren woke up with a sticky tear on her cheeks.
Ah. Morning tears.
She opened the left handle of her closet and pulled on her school uniform. She then randomly chose a grey jacket and sweatpants out of the dull stack of colors, and left her room to eat breakfast.
After breakfast, she came back into the room and opened the right handle of her closet. Inside was clothes of all sorts of colors and style, the opposite of the other side of the closet. It was the home clothes. She took off the grey jacket in place of a light rose one and closed the door of her room.
---
"Hah?" Lin Xingren found a fist-sized, light pink jewelry box laid on her desk when she arrived to her classroom.
The classmates sitting at her right were snickering.
They must think it's a prank or something. Gosh, is it like April Fools or something.
"Hey, Chen Siyun-"
Wait.
She stopped before turning around to ask Chen Siyun and clumsily scrambled to open the box.
