Bungo Stray Dogs (Fem Atsushi) ~ Nothing Special, I am just a useless being

Part 1

'In our orphanage, we have a garden that has various flowers and other vegetables that workers plant. In the garden center, the children always play playground. I sat beside the trees and read a book. I love books. Book to me only friend I have. To me, when I read a book it's like I am not in this world anymore. That's why I always love to read alone.'

Then, the workers call all the children to go inside. Its lunchtime. She goes inside with her book in her hand. As she sits down, she looks down at the table and what meal they serve. It's Chazuke, today Chazuke with chicken dish. Yesterday just a simple bento. But today she will eat Chazuke, she like it,Chazuke is her favorite.

She sits beside a short hair girl. At their table, it can sit around 6 people. Even if she sits with a group, it looks like, the other kids talk to themselves. Sometimes she often feels like she is a ghost to them. But when you feel this for a long time, there a one time that you don't even care anymore, so yes, she doesn't even care anymore if nobody didn't notice her. She like alone. In the evening, after their learning with their teacher in that orphanage, she rummaged her bag and took out the book she borrow from the library. She looks very fond to book and to her, the book is the best friend than a human beings.

Every day the schedule goes like usual, but there is something that you didn't know. Atsushi is not very likely among her friends. It can say that, among them, she looks weird because of her appearence and her personality. she doesn't know how to approach people, but it doesn't mean she is a shy person. Atsushi is a kid that doesn't have any common sense when talking about social interaction and emotionless. Plus her interest not same as the kids around her, that is what the kids said and think about her, so yes maybe there is why people don't care about her, and she likely being isolated by them.

One night, the full moon appears, it's look shining with the other stars in dark sky. Atsushi's bed is beside the window and her room is shared with other 10 kids. her space is located in the corner of that room. She loves moon as she feels it's familiar to her. Besides the books, moon is the second thing she loves. she stares at that moon, she always do that everynights. She began to close her eyes once she feel sleepy and then fall asleep.

In the morning, when everybody is ready to go down to breakfast, her roommates are talking to themself while they squinting at Atsushi. Atsushi was going to wear her dress before going down, but she notices that her roommates talk among them about her because she notices they slightly look her and whisper. at first, she doesn't even care about them, she just takes her bag pack and goes down.

A week later.

 She sat on the swing at the garden. she read her sherlock holmes series book that she ask the worker to buy for her last week with her saving money. After an hours, suddenly the other worker came to her, and ask her to go to the director's office room. When she heard that the director order her to come quickly, she start to have a bad feeling. She scares that she might do any mistakes that make the director mad again. Before this, when she made any mistakes, the director of this orphanage was the one who will punish her, sometimes by beating her up or sometimes being locked in the store and sometimes the director will suck her face in water.

When she was in front of the director's room, she grip tightly her book. Then she began to knock the door. After a minute the director called her to enter his room.

After she open the door and locked the door as the director ask, she stand in front of the director while he sit at his office table. Then, the director quickly walked toward her and slap her without warning and the book that she hold grabbed by that man and in front of her eyes, that book already turn into pieces. she confuses about what had happened and looks up at the director with tears.

The director looks at her with despise "Why you stole the food from our pantry, you know that we right now don't have enough money or enough food for everyone, and you still stole that and eat by yourself?"

She was confused as she was still on the floor "B-but I did not do that, why did I do that, you can't accuse me like that!?" Even in pain at her cheek and tear in her eyes, she still speak up to prove that she not doing that.

"Huh!? don't pretend you are being accused and not guilty at all, I am annoyed with your fake innocent accused! stop !" he shouted at her.

" You don't have evident I do that, how can you accuse me like that!?".

"No evident huh? many witnesses said that you stole it. there some of the caretakers who on duty to clean your room found some plastic on your space. Plus, your roommates have said, their notices you always sneak out from your room every night!"

The director glares at her

"W-what, no..w-why"

She feels like being betrayed. The director walked and take the plastic food and some food leftover then throw all of that direct to her face.

"What is this? The caretakes found this at your space, how sly are you to hide this huh? also not to forget that the pijamas  you have wear have a food dirt when the caretakes want to wash every morning. Its weird since all of you will change your clothes to pijamas and direct go to bed"

She looks down at the trash being thrown at her, that food. 'I never ate this' she tried to remember. and she tried to think that maybe somebody that hate her trying to do this thing to her.

" No! I did not eat this, maybe some of my roommates ate this, and they put it on myhy desk!" the director stare at her, this time becoming more hatred

"Huh! Right now you want to accuse your friends? what a filthy kid are you" he even kick that kid because of his anger after he heard that.

"Don't speak nonsense, how can all of your roommates suddenly accuse you, are they hate you? what have you done?" still...the director still does not believe what that kid said.

"Stop this Atsushi, I think you are being too far, I should teach you from the start"

The director turned and walk to a small closet beside his table office, taking a hammer and nail from his bellow drawer. then, slowly walked back to Atsushi, as he look down at her, he grabbed the kid harshly and at the same time, Atsushi start to scare and push back and tried to run away from him, but he tightened his grip

"Atsushi, you know what, I will teach you hard from now on until you realize your wrong and start to be a good kid"As the director speaks with his fierce and lower voice toward her, without a second he takes her leg and nails it with the hammer. she screams out loud as she feels the pain in her foot. the director emotinless when he do that toward a 10 years old kid, its look like he dont even have an emphaty or a bit humanism.
