"You will be staying here for the time being. Soon, your parents will come and get you, okay?"
The woman in a white and black dress announced to the children sitting before her and staring at her with wide eyes.
"Now, let's go to the dinner room."
Another woman dressed in same attire as the another stood up after giving a child some bread. A little boy caught her attention. He was sitting with his back faced towards her unlike the other children. She walked towards him and bent down to his level.
"Why are you faced backwards? Do you know that is rude to not face a person that's talking to you?" Her voice was so smooth and calming.
The little boy glanced at her and shifted away from her yet remaining in his position.
The woman was stunned by his eyes. It was dark yet it was bright like a dark green color. This time, she walked around him and stooped down to look into his face. The little boy cowered away with a glare on his face.
"Little boy, what's your name?"
The little boy gave her a hard glare and moved away again.
"It would be nice if you did tell me your name, we can be friends," she looked at him with a smile on her face.
And he ignored her and remained silent.
A hand was placed on the woman's shoulder and she looked back at the hand; It was one of her fellow mate in same attire as her. She stood up on her feet and the woman pulled her away from the child.
"We picked him from under a tree in a thunderous rain. He was lying there." The woman whispered to her.
She frowned and looked back to the young boy.
And the other woman continued, "he doesn't talk and I don't think he was given a name either. Seems like his parents left him."
She frowned deeply at the narration of the other woman.
"How could they be so cruel to leave a five-years old in the cold rain without an umbrella or a rain coat," the other woman mumbled as she stared at the boy.
The little boy had his eyes down on the cookie in his hands, his eyes remained on it as he refused to eat it rather, he stared at it.

Mother Bella walked into the room, she glanced around and looked down at the sleeping children as she walked round. She paused when a bed was empty. She looked down at the bed tag 'Child 89: K.' She frowned and let out a heavy breath and walked away from the room. She strode and strode then stopped at the front of the door of the bathroom, she walked in and let out a huff as she saw the little boy washing his hand. He looked back at her with his dark green eyes shining in the dark. When he saw that she was the one, he looked away and switched off the tap and turned to walk away from her sight.
"K, can we talk?"
The young boy stopped at her voice and he looked up at her with a frown. He looked away and down at his feet but remained silent.
"I know it's inconveniencing here. So, let's go to the reading room," she smiled down at him and opened the door behind her.
The young boy looked at the door and her, then he looked away and walked out of the door and she followed him from his side. They entered the room and the woman sat down; she patted her hands down on the bench beside her. The young boy looked down at her hands and walked towards her although, he sat down further away from her. He looked down at his hand in his lap and remained quiet.
"It's been about 1 years since you came here, how do you like this place?" She smiled down at him and waited for his reply but as usual, he was quiet.
"Do you want another name? K is just an alphabet," she paused and looked at him with a smile but he was quiet again, "hmm... How about Alarick?"
At the sound of the name, the boy looked up at her, when his eyes met hers, he diverted them back to his hands on his lap.
She smiled as his eyes met her and she scooted towards him a little, "Alarick is a German word that means a noble leader or ruler of all."
The boy looked back at her and this time, he didn't look away.
She smiled and scooted over again, "I see a leader in you, Alarick."
He was silent yet his dark green eyes shined and glittered under the dark room.= = =
