Alarick, can you send the cups back to the kitchen?”

The little boy looked back at Mother Bella and bobbled his head down, he strode to the table and picked two cups as his hand can carry and he walked away probably to the kitchen.

“You gave him a name?” The woman beside Mother Bella had her jaw dropped open.

Mother Bella gave her a warm smile and looked back at her, “yes Carol. Alarick is his name now. He likes it.”

“Alarick?! That’s an old German name and it's so unusual,” Carol turned to the woman and frowned.

Mother Bella laughed, “well, it means a leader,” she looked back at Alarick how picked up another cup and walked back, “I see a leader in him. His eyes shining so greatly.”

“Well, we can only pray that the children grow to be fine men and women that do something great in the world out there.” Mother Carol folded her arms and ran her eyes through the children sitting and watching the black and white television.

“What did you like the most about the story?” Mother Bella questioned as she sat beside Alarick.

It was dark as they both sat down on the floor of the reading room with a book in Alarick’s hand.

“I don’t like the story,” the little boy said silently and looked down at the book in his hands. ‘The Fox and the Stork’ was written boldly on the front page of the book.

She frowned at his and scooted over to sit beside him, “what don’t you like about the story, Alarick?”

He pouted with anger, “why would be fox be so wicked? Did the stork do anything bad to him and I also think that the stork should have done something more than what he did to the fox.”

As he complained, a smile aroused on her face, “that’s why it is a moral story, Alarick. The story tells us that if someone is selfish and wicked, it will backfire to the person sooner or later,” she took hold of his little hand and placed them in hers, he looked at her with wide open eyes and she smiled at him and pushed a strand of his black hair behind his ear and placed her hand on his cheek, “that’s why they said what's goes around, comes around; And you should be a good boy so that your good deeds will come back to you.”

He was silent but he bobbled his head.

“Mother Bella! Mother Bella!!”

The young boy ran into the room with a paper in his hand and pencil in the other, he stopped as he saw an unfamiliar man in a police uniform. Mother Bella was standing before him with her eyebrows lowered and pulled closer together as if she was glaring at him. The man looked down at Alarick and smiled.

“You're growing one?”

He took a step towards Alarick and bent to stroke his hair but Mother Bella pulled Alarick away from him and pushed Alarick behind her.

“Don’t come here again, Marcus,” she took hold of Alarick’s wrist and walked away from the Police man.

Alarick remained his eyes on the man who had a smirk on his face as he looked at them walk away.
