She grabbed a book from the shelf and stood up on her feet. Her eyes run through the book and she smiled and threw it into her tote bag. She looked down inside her bag and smiled again, “this is enough books for now.” She mumbled and walked away to the counter.
As she strode, suddenly, a man rushed out from the other section and bumped into her. The books on his hands went flying over and her tote bag fell over to the floor.
“Oh, my goodness, I'm so sorry,” Ella apologized as she picked up the books, she continued, “I didn’t see you there, I'm been very excited about picking up a new hobby and I didn’t look where I'm going, I'm so sorry sir.” She picked up her tote bag and wore it over her shoulder, and then, she sized up his books in her arms and then she looked up at him and handed them over to him.
The man was standing with his jaw drop opened. He had ginner hair that was gelled backward and blue bright eyes were shining. “You're a rapper?” He questioned with surprise in his eyes.
Ella couldn’t help but chuckle, “no. I just blabber when I'm nervous,” she looked up at him and smiled, “are you okay, sir?”
He showed her a smile and took the books from her hands, “I'm very okay, ma’am.”
‘I haven’t seen him before, is he new here?’
“You know, I'm actually new in this town. If you're not too busy, can you show me around?” He asked as he balanced the books in his arms.
Ella bit her lips as she hesitated to reply, “that I don’t-”
And she was interrupted by the vibration coming from her phone. She looked up at him and he smiled at her. “Excuse me,” Ella walked away and answered the call.
“Girl. Let me guess you're at home?” Arie’s voice sounded out from the phone.
“I'm not. I went to buy some books,” Ella answered in a low voice.
“Books that you would never read,” she snorted, “let’s meet. I want us to have a serious conversation now. I’ll wait for you at our spot. Be fast girl.”
“But-” And Arie already cut the call. Ella huffed out and dropped her phone into her bag. She looked back at the man and he was looking at the other books on the shelf. She walked back to him and he looked at her.
“I don’t think I can show you around. I have an appointment right now,” she gave a tight smile nervously.
“It's fine, you don’t have to look so guilty,” he chuckled at look on her face and then, he took out a card from his pocket and handed it over to her, “then let’s meet on another occasion. You can also call me.”
She took the business card and looked down at it, “you're a reporter?”
The man laughed, “I've been told that I don’t look like one.”
“It's not that.”
“I'm Emilio,” he smiled and stretched his hand out, “let’s meet on another occasion, huh?”
‘He was asking for my name.’
“Ella,” she completed.
Emilio smiled and nodded, “nice to meet you, Ella.”

Ella walked into the café; it wasn’t the one she worked at. Her eyes ran across the room but suddenly, a ding sounded from her phone. She looked down at her phone and it was a mail.
‘Did you change your number because of me? Send me some money now or you won’t like what I will do.’
She looked away from the message at the sound of Arie’s voice and she threw her phone back to the bag and walked to Arie with a smile on her face.
“Girl, it feels like it's been ages since we’ve met,” she pulled Ella into an embrace, “I've missed you.”
Ella chuckled while she hugged her back, “it hasn’t been that long you know.”
Arie pulled away from the hug and looked into her eyes, “it feels like it,” she stated then looked behind them, “let’s sit down.”
Ella nodded and was dragged away to the chair. They plumped down unto the seat and Arie turned to her in a flit, “do you have a boyfriend?”
Ella choked in her spilt as she was taken aback by the sudden question, “what? All of a sudden?”
“Yes, all of a sudden. Do you have?” She questioned with seriousness on her face.
“No, I don’t.” Ella replied and slipped her coffee with her eyes on Arie.
“That’s good then,” she chirped, “my cousin was invited to a masquerade party and he doesn’t have a date so I recommended you.”
“What? What if I had a boyfriend?” Ella frowned.
Arie rolled her eyes, “then it would be an imaginary one.”
Ella scoffed, “please, it’s not like that-”
Arie interrupted her, “let’s forget about the imaginary boyfriends now and think of how you would go to the party. And the best part is that it is outside the town; It's in the city. That’s a chance to go to the city,” she chirped.
‘The city? It wasn’t my favorite memories.’ Ella frowned.
“Now, let’s shop for a dress,” Arie chirped while she giggled.

“Wear this one, I don’t like this one on you,” Arie handed over some dressed to Ella who just came out of the dressing room a minute ago.
Ella huffed, “today, you're the one tiring me down.”
“That’s how it feels Ella, enjoy it,” she smiled at Ella and walked away with her eyes on different dresses.
Ella let out another huff and turned around but she halted as her eyes caught someone familiar.
The man was bald, he was dressed in a hoodie and jeans. He was followed sideways by two more men.
She frowned. “What was his name again?” She squeezed her eyes to remember then when she did, she mumbled, “isn’t that Gab from Alarick’s people? Is he out already?”
“Aren’t you changing?” Arie looked back at her with a confused look.
“Right. I'm going now,” Ella replied and turned back, she glanced at where they went into and shrugged her shoulders.
‘It's not my concern.’
And she walked away.
