CHAPTER 3
I am too ashamed to say I lost the fight, so instead I am going to say we compromised. I agreed to attend this new school, and in return, she agreed to my withdrawal the moment their oh so high security got breached. So here I am noble readers, in a car sent by the school to fetch me. Yea you guessed right, I am about to enter into the gate of hell.
The gigantic gate swung upon only after the driver spoke into some strange device in the car. And did I forget to mention the fact that my driver was strangely attractive? Well yes he was, with dark eyes, symmetrical face, lovely lips pressed in a thin line and well muscled body covered with form fitting shirt, and a stern expression.
He was totally my type, and I tried numerous times to spark a conversation but the brute shut me down, each time more ruthless than the last that I was forced to give up, and sat with a small pout, while something akin to amusement sparked in his gaze.
The gateway leading to the school was gigantic. It was defended by two round towers, crowned by hanging turrets, and strange purple vines twisted in and out of the monstrosity.
Well the gates swung open, and I was ushered in, and man it was even bigger inside. It was bigger than any school I had ever been, with rows of lovely purple edges adorning the open space.
The building itself was breathtaking, though it was now lighted up by the setting sun, the gothic greatness of its features, and the wide expanse of grey walls rendered it a gloomy and sublime object.
There was even a little bell tower at the very top, which also housed a gigantic clock, not to mention the fact that more purplish vines twisted into the castle walls and seemed to bled in as well. Even more strange was the huge fountain at the very middle of the courtyard, with a phrase imbedded at the very top. I craned my head to see, and it read:
"Memento Mori".
I was filled with the desire to understand, something told me that phrase was significant, or at least cool, so i turned to Mister attractive."Would you explain that phrase to me please," I said, trying to be polite. It worked, and he glanced at me. "What phrase?," He asked. And I fought the urge to roll my eyes.
"The phrase on the fountain," I pointed for extra measure.
He looked at me now with the slightest bit of interest.
"Memento Mori," He pronounced.I tested it on my tongue and it felt strange, I could not understand why.
"Could you explain its meaning?," I asked again, and he froze me with a look.
"Remember that you will die," He smirked slightly, clearly pleased by my flinch.
I stiffened, goosebumps erupting all over, and I felt the fine hairs on my neck stand in tune to the horror coursing my veins as a chill swept through me. My feet itched with the need to run, I had perceived danger and it wanted out.
The driver brought down my luggage from the car's booth, and closed it with a large thud that made me jump. His lips twitched again.
We looked around together, and the empty courtyard made him curse. Just then a tall figure came jogging around the corner.
"Hey Tyler! Get over here," The driver shouted. The figure hesitated, glanced around, then resumed his jogging, this time towards us. When he came closer my first thought was "well damn ". Tyler was a fine specimen, a chocolate prince with brown eyes, a lovely smile, and a head full of curls that covered his eyebrows, and did I mention he was definitely above 6ft?
That lovely smile however changed to a confused frown as he looked at me, and then a sudden hiss, as his clear brown eyes darkened with what seemed like hunger?
"Tyler control yourself," The driver said calmly. I would like to say I was just as cool and collected, but I was not. I let out a high pitch scream when he suddenly lunged for me. To my relief he never reached me. My driver (whom I was starting to think was not just a driver) grabbed him by the neck and slammed down In a move that was too fast to see.
Tyler was now writhing underneath him, but could not move due to the knee that was currently pinned into his neck, as the driver spoke low rapid words to him. Gradually his struggles ceased.
And he was let up. Taking a deep breath he turned to me, and I was relieved to see his eyes back to its original state.
"Sorry about that, I had an allergic reaction," He explained, and my mind went "hell no."
"Allergic reaction my ass! You freaked out and looked like you wanted to bite me or some shit," I retorted narrowing my eyes. He looked shocked, then shook himself and smiled again."I apologise for scaring you, it was not my intention," He repeated with a winning smile, but I just gave him a blank stare in return.
"Your eyes also turned black or whatever," I said, completely ignoring his apology. He blinked.
"Errr, it was a trick of the light?" He explained again, glancing at the driver for help."Well, Tyler here will show you to the dorms" driver spoke up finally.
"Oh yea, you are the human transfer student," He exclaimed, snapping his fingers in realization. Only one word stood out to me though, and I just had to ask.
"Human?" I asked him skeptically, to my surprise though he froze.
"We are all humans here, aren't we Tyler?" The driver asked, slapping Tyler's back forcefully, which snapped him out of whatever he was in.
"Oh yes, yes of course," He muttered standing straight. The driver just shook his head, looking absolutely done with Tyler.
"Well I'll be leaving now, He's in your hands Tyler, and nothing, absolutely nothing can go wrong today," The driver warned, staying long enough to watch Tyler gulp before turning on his heel.
"Thanks for everything! And FYI you look too good to be a driver, just think of how many ladies you would make happy if you were to show some skin," I shouted, wiggling my eyebrows, I just could not help it. He just took a deep breath and left. Tyler snorted beside me.
"The name's Dre, Dre Tyler," He said, drawing himself to full height.
"Paris, Paris Bakari," I answered, accepting the outstretched hand.
"You are quite small Paris, with that height and that face you are even prettier than most girls," Dre commented, scanning my appearance.
If I was of lighter shade i would be red by now, one of the most attractive guys I had ever seen just called me pretty and he didn't even know it.
"You need to buff up man seriously, but don't worry I practically live in the gym, I'll help you," He grinned, shoving my shoulder playfully, it took a lot of effort to stay upright.
"I don't need buffing up thanks very much," I muttered.
"Whatever, let's go in already," He said, before turning his attention to my bags, and lifting seven of them at once, leaving me with one to carry, and my mind cooed "oou, a perfect gentleman"."Are you ready?" He asked raising one brow.
"Hmm nope, definitely not, in fact we don't have to go in right now, right?" I rambled on fearfully."Careful, they smell fear, this is going to be good". He laughed, ushering me to my demise.
