CHAPTER 15
I could barely keep my eyes open, I mean it hurts to keep my eyes open, I wanted nothing more than to slip into blessed oblivion, but I could not. I had to see everything, I had to watch everything. I had just invited a bunch of vampires into a werewolf den, and I was not so sure I did the right thing. So whatever happens here today would be my responsibility, and for that reason I had to stay awake and watch.
"Oh my God! Are you alright?" Min cried, rushing to my side immediately they zoomed in.
"I_I am fine, just_just help me up," I whimpered softly and she immediately obliged. Once on my feet, with Minha's arms around my waist, I hobbled to the scene.
They were having a stare down. The vampires on one side, and the wolves on the other, it was intense. They were tensed up, muscles pulled taut. Even Luca looked alert, and despite his initial reluctance, Dante looked feral.
"Damn, the amount of testosterone in here is choking," I said, and all eyes snapped to me. Minha squeezed my waist lightly.
"True," She agreed, before looking at me strangely. "You are a male as well, how can you choke on testosterone?" She asked, and I swallowed, then winced. Elijah's eyes was promptly drawn to the action, and his dark gaze darkened further.
"How dare you?" He gritted through clenched teeth, and the others shifted.
"How dare I? That's funny because I was about to ask you that very same question," The one I had come to know as Jaxon laughed, but his eyes were cold, devious, and calculating.
"We wished to talk, not fight," Noah said from the back. His normally sweet voice icy.
Jaxon gave an ugly chuckle. I never thought a male this attractive would ever seem ugly to me, but in that moment, a terrible chill pierced my heart with the certainty that something would go wrong, horribly wrong.
"Then talk," He growled. The other wolves drew back and formed a circle, trapping us from every corner. And judging by how on edge my friends looked, they sensed it as well.
"Rogues from your pack have been sniffing around our borders, and yesterday they mauled a child who strayed too far. Enough. We want them gone," Elijah grounded out, every word like sharp frost. Jaxon laughed his ugly laugh again.
"But as you said, they are rogues, we have nothing to do with them. They are no concern of ours," He grinned, and his pack nodded in agreement. Ashton gritted his teeth.
"They were your pack until you lost control, they are still your responsibility," Ashton shouted, an icy avalanche roiling in the tundra of his gaze.
Jaxon bared his teeth. "I never lost control," He laughed. "I simply lured you out, and now here you all are. Who do you think is protecting your precious school from me?" He ended and we all froze, his meaning not lost on us.
"What have you done?" Elijah asked in a deadly voice, and Jaxon shrugged.
"Something that should have been done a long time ago," He grinned. "A massacre." He gave a mad giggle.
Ashton lost it. I could see it the very moment that fragile humanity he managed to hold on to snapped, and he became feral.
With a growl, he dashed to the bald guy, he was so fast that no one could stop him, he ripped his arteries open.
The guy dropped to the floor, and Ashton turned to us with blood dripping from his mouth and onto the light blue shirt he wore. He took out an handkerchief from his pockets, and methodically wiped his bloody fingers clean, and I felt sick. Dashing to a corner, I retched pitifully.
