Waking up, August felt like shit. As much as she loved school, she hated it twice as much. It was just filled with a bunch of teenagers that think they deserve more than they do and that were envious of her for doing what they couldn't- getting jobs.
She threw her quilt off of her legs, frowning at the sight of her roommate, who was still fast asleep despite the two alarms blaring, and shook her awake softly, "Aimee?" She whispered, "You're gonna be late."
Aimee's eyes fluttered open and August stepped back, smiling softly. She left to the bathroom to get so her morning routine before stepping back into the bedroom in a towel, pulling along the divider they had installed so she could put on clothes. Aimee was already dressed, biting into a slice of toast when August walked into the kitchen.
They had quickly discovered that August's morning routine took too long for both of them to get showers before school and Aimee had offered to start showering in the evening before bed. August was internally grateful.
"Banana?" Aimee asked above a yawn, wiping her eyes when they watered.
August nodded, catching the fruit as it was thrown at her. She unpeeled it and scrolled through her phone, frowning at the sight. Someone had liked her last twelve Instagram posts and someone with the same url had done the same on Twitter.
Another alarm blared and the two girls sighed in unison, packing their bags before leaving their flat. August couldn't remember if she had done her homework, but that's a bridge that she'll cross when she comes to it. Aimee walked by her side down the roads of London, occasionally sending a flirty look to guys that checked them out, as they arrived at RADA- The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
She hadn't been in school for long, well, this was technically her second academic year at the school, but her first and the beginning of this one had been interrupted by the filming of Stranger Thing 2 and A Quiet place. Not to mention that she'd be leaving soon enough again to film Stranger Things 3.
The day went on like any other, boring lessons dragging on, judgemental looks from peers and even a few teachers. Until she checked her messages, seeing one from her agent from an hour or so ago. August pulled out her laptop and unlocked it, going to her emails like she had been asked to and gasped slightly, reading, then rereading, then reading the words a third time just to be sure.
She covered her mouth slightly before telling the first person that she could think of, her sister.
"Mallory, I'm going to kill myself," August said when her sister answered the FaceTime call. She looked up at the people in the cafeteria that were giving her weird looks, making them turn away.
"Good afternoon, August. How are you today? Good, I hope?" Mallory greeted, "Me? Oh, I'm great, thanks for asking."
August's eye twitched as she glared at her sister, "This is not a joke, Mallory. My life is ending, right here. In my school cafeteria."
