"Then do it."
"I can't."

August's bed was cold.
Well, colder than it usually is. It took everything in her not to fly to New York right now and try to win Conan back. He hadn't responded to any of her messages and whilst she thought he was being dramatic, she realised that she wouldn't speak to herself either.
He had purposefully left her on delivered then been active on Instagram and in Gracie's comment section, as a giant 'fuck you' to her.
August's heart was close to empty. She was hurt and went to the one person that hadn't left her. A decision she'd grow to regret in the months to come.
Bran's bed was warm. There was no doubt that another woman had been in it, probably only minutes before August got there. She didn't necessarily want to be there, but Bran made her feel things and lately she'd been feeling a lot of nothing.
The whole night, she thought of Conan and Sadie and Caleb and Gracie. She hugged herself as she cried, mourning over the friendships she had ruined to ease her insecure mind. And she wondered if she'd ever get them back.
A girl can hope.
Hope was all she had right now. Hope that it'd die out soon. Hope that she could go back to July and change everything. She'd stop herself from kissing Gracie, she stop herself from signing the contract, and everything would be okay.
